Hi,
I am also a RLS sufferer. What you had described briefly sounds like some of the signs of RLS.
There is ways of treating RLS but not getting rid of it totally. Allot of times people that suffer are anaemic and lacking important minerals in their diet, and yes stress can increase the occurrences.
I have found some comfort by increasing my minerals (iron, potassium, zinc) and vitamins in my diet and through anti depressants. The anti depressants are commonly prescribed for chronic pain syndrome.
I am sure you have found information on the web in regards to this condition. Many of the sites are very informative...the biggest thing is not to stress yourself out about not being able to sleep. Try sleeping in different places in the house...so what if you have to fall asleep in front of a TV to keep your mind off it. Just make sure that you still get enough sleep.
Talk to your family doctor they may have more information to help you.

During the 1st trimester of my pregnancy I suffered from RLS. The "restlessness" was only in the lower calf area of my legs though. My doctor apparently hadn't heard of this syndrome because she didn't give any diagnosis. She did recommend discontinuing any consumption of caffiene 6 hours before bedtime. I also started taking prenatal vitamins around the same time. Not sure what cured it for me but it just went away. Hope you find some relief if it is RLS because I know how frustrating it is!!

RLS only affects the legs, i usually get it when i am really tired, if it gets really bad then i have to take a muscle relaxant, OH and i am sure that if boker magnum suffered from it , he wouldn't be so naive as to call it a pseudo condition, people who have no idea of what they are talking about usually use that excuse

a sleep doctor had me go to sleep clinic for sleep apnea. You sleep in a comfortable bed with about 25 wires attached to your body. A camera watches any movement;while they listen to you. The results showed I had sleep apnea, and RLS. I did not know that I had RLS, but the camera told the story. My sleep doctor prescribed pills which are helping out.

When I was younger (now 60) I had rls / when I slept my legs wanted to actually run or shake, keeping me awake. I ran for excercise. It actually helped greatly. I don't seem to have the restlessness at night anymore but I do seem to be itching much more. It happens sporadically. I take benedril for it.

I'm not sure what causes restless leg but I also have fibromyagia. any way the doctor just put me on requip.25 mg twice a day. Too soon to know if it helps but God Bless you cause it is miserable to live with, uncontrollable leg jerks and the need to move. Hope this helps a little. and good luck.

My husband & I think I have it too but on the comercial it says something about if it happens 15 or more times a month. Well mine does not happen that offen. Mostly when I am on my feet for a longer time than normal. I guess because mine does't happen very often I have not got any medical attention. But it sure keeps me and my husband up at night, it is frustrating when you can't keep your feet still.

Doesn't sound like RLS to me. I treat mine with magnesium and calcium. RLS is caused by a magnesium deficiency.

before you think about it being RLS maybe you should check the meds you might be taking now because some meds have those kind of side effects.
