People choose to believe in God for various reasons. The main one is their personal choice like you choose to be atheist. They may want to believe in a higher power of creation to feel loved and comforted during their times of need or they believe because they want to have a reason behind human creation and why things are the way they are and wish to go to a better place at death. Whether you believe in God or not. I think that all peoples personal choice should be accepted. To each to their own.

I cannot speak for everyone and I do not want to bore you with too many details, so if I seem too brief, please excuse me. I can be emailed for a more full explaination.

I considered all the arguments. I looked at the literary, logical, archeological, and historical evidence. I listened to the cry of my own heart, and in the end I found what I was looking for.

I found a God that revealed Himself in such a way that it could be entered into evidence in a court of law. I found a set of doctrine that made reasoned sense of the world the way that it is. I found a theology that, while there are parts that are difficult to understand and easy to confuse, did not contain logic errors such as Internal Contradiction, Infinite Regression, or Circularity. In short, after about 20 years of searching, I found God.

I guess people believe in God because of their downtrodden life. When a person has been disappointed by mankind for so long, we turn to the spiritual, and it actually opens minds because tapping into Peace is always unexplainable. It is harder to explain to most Christians than Atheists sometimes! It is all in individuality. Some folks even told me they just turned to God because they are tired. Simply because they are tired,,,

I believe in God but not just because I've read the bible or gone to church. It really ain't even about that when you come to know who God is. Clearly all the answers are in the Bible but when someone like me or someone like you accepts the fact that Jesus is real we are taking a leap of faith in the unknown. Although its very difficult to believe in something you don't see it takes a child-like mind to come to know the father our lord and savior. Even though I wasn't living for him all my life I still believed in God but I didn't know God; which are two different things. But when I came to accept him in my heart my life @ age 16 changed for the better. Even though things in my life were not all easy. This time around I could go to him for help and advice. And its real difficult for a christian to explain this sort of question to a non believer because what since would it make anyway. My advice is accept Jesus into your heart and not only believe in him but live for him. God is real and until you find that out you never will if you don't try. And if it don't work you can call me a liar. But I know better than that. GOD WILL SHOW YOU WHO HE IS IF YOU JUST ASK AND WAIT ON THE LORD, HE WONT FAIL YOU EVEN IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN HIM.HE LOVES YOU!!

At the point of your physical birth God imputed soul life into your biological body ,if He hadn't you would not be here.
We are all born with an empty vacumme in us that only God can fill.
People try to fill it with all sorts of things but the emptiness remains because only He can fill it.
God made it that way so that at some time throughout our individual life on earth we would become God conscious.
At that point we either want to know him or we don't.
If we are positive at the point of God consciousness and say "yes I want to know Him", He will make sure the Gospel is presented to you.
He is a gentleman and does not force Himself on anyone.
We make our own choice as to what we believe.
Take care!

60 Years ago were was you at? Where did you come from? If you said "my mom and dad" then where did they come from? . . . . Some people say that you got to have faith, To believe in God it don't take much faith. Just look at the Evidence. For a ex-sample the human eye has 137'000'000 light-sensitive cells. Who created the the human eye? God

Do you know of any atheist organizations or groups that helped to clean up after Katrina? I'm afraid if I were an atheist I wouldn't know what my purpose is in life. When I was agnostic, I did lots of things as I searched to fill a void in me. With God I have purpose and hope, joy & peace, too.
What is your purpose?

I tried living my life without God and
1. there was a void or emptiness that nothing could fill, not sex, not drugs, not money, not materialistic things: only the love of Christ

2. I realized that I am nothing but a sinner saved by faith, I can do nothing in and of myself but I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

3. I want to have everlasting life through Christ in heaven. I don't care to spend eternity in hell.

I was an atheist at one time.

We believe because we have a heart for him, want to be saved, are spiritual, and just plain want to do his will.

I was once an atheist as well. I was being stubborn and clinging to my pride and had a problem with authority, especially anything Heavenly. Instead of being zealous against God, I am now zealous FOR God. Anything is possible for you dear!
