Many people keep their bananas in a different place than others. I want to see if anyone has reasoning behind any placement or if it is just out of habit from growing up.

If they are ripe I keep them in the fridge and if they are not then I keep them out. Keeping them in the fridge when they are ripe keeps them fresher longer in my opinion and they last longer.

I just started two years ago to keep my bananas in the fridge. The inside stays fresh and firm for weeks! (Yes, weeks) I hate fruit flies and fruit flies like nothing more than bananas sitting outside of the fridge. My Mom has a friend who also keeps them in the fridge in a PAPER bag. I refuse to be that... er... trying not to use the word "anal" here... heck ...anal.

keep bananas in a paper bag outside of the refridge. it retards the spoiling and keeps them sweet. Brown bananas do not mean bad they are good enough that an infant can eat them when they are very brown
