This way, a first-generation Arab girl growing up in a Western country will realize "I'm only 12 years old, my parents should not be marrying me off to an older man, there are laws in this country to protect me from that".

I think it's a good thing our schools are like that, and I think spending money on public education is the best investment a country can make.

Arranged marriages of under age girls?? What American would go for that? That's not a liberal/conservative issue!! And no I don't think that it's a good thing for the tax dollars of the people to be funding the ideologies of only part of the people, especially a minority of the people. Only a true died in the wool Stalinist could ever believe any brainwashing is good.

Schools have to teach kids how to learn and how to think. They are not the right place to be teaching them what to think. That's what parents, churches and other organizations are for. If they learn how to think, they can make their own decisions about the rest.

Public schools are great, but they should not be dominated by any group. They should be neutral. That is a very hard thing though.

At least the public schools are "free." It sucks going to college, spending an obscene amount of money, and having to recycle the BS for the high grade.

i disagree that public schools are liberal brainwashing centers...mostly because im a liberal and i have gone to public schools. and no public school didnt make me liberal.

all it comes down to (your assumption) is family values and religion. that has nothing to do with public schools.
