That is a divine endowment for man's protection. Just imagine how the world would be if all men had no fear at all! Fear causes man to be prudent, but this is still bad when he does not seek true knowledge to overcome fear. Nowadays, the fear of atomic bombs has caused unwise man to make more atomic weapons for self protection!
When man learns to fear God, this wisdom in selfless love will remove almost all his fears:
So thrilling, however, is the vision of the future which Shoghi  Effendi painted for us in his brilliant words, that it wipes away all fear and fills the heart of every Bahá'à with such confidence and joy that the prospect of any amount of suffering and deprivation cannot weaken his faith or crush his hopes. "The world is, in truth," Shoghi Effendi wrote, "moving on towards its destiny. The interdependence of the peoples and nations of the earth, whatever the leaders of the divisive forces of the world may say or do, is already an accomplished fact." The world commonwealth, "destined to emerge, sooner or later, out of the carnage, agony, and havoc of this great world convulsion" was the assured consummation of the working of these forces. First would come the Lesser Peace, which the nations of the earth, as yet conscious of Bahá'u'lláh's Revelation, would themselves establish; "This momentous and historic step, involving the reconstruction of mankind, as the result of the universal recognition of its oneness and wholeness, will bring in its wake the spiritualization of the masses, consequent to the recognition of the character, and the acknowledgement of the claims, of the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh - the essential condition to the ultimate fusion of all races, creeds, classes, and nations which must signalize the emergence of His New World Order." He goes on to state: "then will the coming of age of the entire human race be proclaimed and celebrated by all the peoples and nations of the earth. Then will the banner of the Most Great Peace be hoisted.

It is said everything humans do, revolves around fear. Because
our physical body can be easily damaged. People fear
for what they will have to eat. Do they have enough for the future.
Wars are fought because someone has something someone
else needs. Like water, hunting lands. And those wars have
caused a hatred between people that has been around for
millenium.
Even our behavior is affected. All the making fun, criticizing,
bullying, acting bad. All revolves around our fears, and us
trying to keep others at arms length, to protect ourselves.

Why do people have fear?
Being a human being is quite fearful. There are many things beyond our control, including the fact that we and everyone we love will die someday.
Every major religious figure has responded to the fear people have, including Jesus. In fact, one of my favorite quotes from Jesus essentially says to not worry about yesterday or tomorrow; there are plenty of things to worry about today.
He then adds that God cares about us today, and will take care of us.
How can we possibly learn to be grateful for all the wonderful things in the world if we are overcome by fear?
Eliminate fear=a life of strength, gratitude, and compassion. peace

people fear because it is a learned biological response to stimuli.
The causes of fear can vary to a surprising degree; fear is to a certain extent a "cultural artifact" (Clifford Geertz). In 19th century Britain, one of the biggest fears was of dying poor, unmourned, unremembered, and possibly ending up on an anatomist's dissection table. By the early twentieth century, this had given way to a fear of being buried alive, to the extent that those who could afford it would make all sorts of arrangements to ensure this would be avoided (e.g. glass lids for observation, and breathing pipes for survival until rescued). During the Second World War, fear of death by bombing was much less prevalent than during World War I, even though many more bombs fell; air wardens would complain of civilians continuing to gossip on street corners instead of taking shelter. Similarly, when cars were new in the early 1900's, dislike of them from the public pushed laws requiring a guard with a red flag to walk in front of it to warn the public of traffic.

Fear is a natural human response. Are you asking about fear in general?

It is a mechanism built into human beings as part of the survival drive. Fear makes us avoid danger. It worked in prehistoric times and it works now.

Because life has told them that if they don't fear, they will be hurt. Personal experience--I pretend to fear, so that I can live in peace.

It is a built in mechanism that protects us from harm. If you had no fear you would walk up to a lion and get mauled before you thought twice about it.

That is a good question,One that I am working on right now in this point and time of my existence.Fear should have NO place in my life and I am completely aware of that,Except fear of the Lord.I feel I do not achieve my goal because I am trying to do it on my own and apart from Him we can do nothing. So I have decided to pray to Him for His help.Because that is where satan steals our power that God gave us and uses it against us.God operates in Faith and scumbag satan operates in fear. But he has been stripped of power so he cons us out of what God gave us,Like Eve in the Garden of Eden. But God knew he would trick us out of our power on a pretty regular basis that is why we have to pray in the name of our Lord God Jesus Christ. He holds the bigger part of what God gave us for safe keeping but through Jesus we still have it and satan will never get it again.Praise Jesus and May God Bless You.

People fear what they do not understand. It is ignorance(the lack of knowledge).
