So I am a senior and i want to go into the navy, and be kindof like an oceanographer, but i want to deal with just the animals, especially the dolphins, i would love to train dolphins, and when i get out work for a private company or take photographs underwater. but i dont know what i would go into the navy as. i love the ocean, i know its the only thing for me. please tell me where i start, and what i will need. i have tried to contact a recruiter but he has never gotton back with me. I am also interseted in the diving, like special ops, because that is the only spec. ops. a female can do. that sucks but yea i love to swim, and i want to do what i love.

You know what? you can join the military or even the Coast Guard, but take any opportunity you can to get Schooling, get the college degree and all the while your going to school, keep in touch and try to volunteer with NOAA. A good start would also be to complete SCUBA training through Rescue Diver. Then you can volunteer dive at an aquarium which would help with your resume. I volunteered at the FLAQ in Tampa. Aquariums have a lot of opportunities.
Oh ya, for special ops. Get serious with a swim coach for speed , distance and endurance. Practice underwater distance as well. When you get to basic, if interested in special ops they will try washing out volunteers in the first few weeks... Be Ready at enlistment.

Senior as a senior in High School?
Go to the Navy website and find the location of a recruitment office, walk into the recruitment office and take the aptitude test there. And then they'll let you know which specialty you can pick.
The navy is not short on applicants like the army, so you might need to show a little more motivation than just leaving a message with a recruiter. Walking into the recruitment office might help.

I am suprized the recruiter never got back to you. Get on the Navy web site and find a recruiting location near you and stop in.
If you love the ocean so much you may want to consider a degree in Biology and Oceanography. The California University system has several schools with excellent programs. I forget if it was Santa Barbarra that I visited that had a good program? Check it out anyhow.

I'm not sure what ratings deal with the dolphins, but I would check out a few webites. The U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program does offer internships, but I'm not sure how hard they are to get. I would recommend going to college and pursuing a degree in zoology, oceanography, or marine biology, and then trying to get one of these internships. Keep your grades up! E-mail nmmp_intern@spawar.navy.mil for info on the Navy Marine Mammal Program. If you still want a military career talk to a recruiter and ask them to find you some information on SPAWAR Systems Center, San Diego, where the Marine Mammal Program is located.

Recruiter's are meager at best. If you go see a recruiter, be extremely affirmative on what you want. They will try to get you into what is short at the moment, don't let them.
Another method is to locate a Naval station near you and contact the Station Re-enlistment NCO. It is a little more red tape, but if he has the time, he or she may be able to walk you through the process.
Good Luck..

id assume she means in HS..
go to a Navy recruiter.. simple as that. they do it for a living, they'll tell you whatever you want to hear.. i mean know..
As for special Ops.. hahaha not sure how the navy does that.. but you probably wont get offered it when you first join. Maybe.. but unlikely.
Join as something, you can always change..

Trust me, you don't want to be in the military. You're in civilian life and you can't hack it, think about that.
