I say Thou shall not kill/murder means killing/murdering another human. That is what God meant. God meant don't kill another human. I don't think Thou shall not kill includes murdering yourself. I just don't believe God meant that.

I think Thou shall not kill/murder means killing/murdering another human. That is why I don't think suicide is a sin. How is it okay to kill/murder yourself.

God should have wrote in the commandments Thou Shall Not Commit Suicide. That should have been the first commandment, and I mean first. So a human can value his/her life first before anything.

What do you think Thou Shall Not kill in the bible mean?

Start with this: all of the 10 Commandments are interconnected. They each spring from the Greatest commandments, and touch each other at some point.

"You shall not commit murder".

Simply put: Human life is made in the image of God, and only God has the right to decide whether a person should live or die. To kill ANY human person, yourself or another, is to assume God's place, ie to usurp God.

Do you remember what the first and second greatest commandments are, according to Jesus?

1. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and soul, and mind and strength.

2. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus added another similiar commandment to these "Two supreme" commandments:

"Love each other as I have loved you."

Whenever a human life is taken by a deliberate act, it is either an act of judgement, or of selfish hatred. Scripture allows for certain acts of judgement, but not for selfish hatred! Suicide (the way it is proposed in this country today) falls under SELFISH HATRED. It is NOT an act of love: not for God, not for others, and not for ourselves.

And yes, God wants us to love ourselves also.

You don't need the bible to know that you don't kill another human being on purpose. There were laws against murder long before the the bible was written. Suicide is a coward's way out.

Why do you have such morbid thoughts?

I think that if people really believed that they were good Christians and would thus go to heaven once they died, that commandment would have been taken to mean what you said, and all religious people would then commit suicide to be with their creator. Because no on can truly know if/ believe that a god exists, not many people commit suicide to be with him. It's logical to doubt outrageous claims.

Killing a life includes yourself. If you believe that God gave you the breathe of life in your physical body, maybe you shall also believe that it is a just a borrowed life. and killing yourself should also be included in the law.

It is wrong to take control of something IE: death that is not in your control, that is God's choice.
However I beleive if it's a mental illness and someone is in pain with no other options than to go out, then maybe they are forgiven. But noone on Earth alive knows the truth till we get to God. On that subject, so there it is for what I know.

King Solomon said there is a time and a place for everything.
A time to kill, and a time to heal, a time for peace, and a time for
war.
Jesus said if someone slaps you, turn to him the other cheek.
He didn't say lay down and let someone knock all the teeth out
of your mouth because he deosn't like the way you look.
We have a God-given mind. And we have to learn to make
judgement calls. And nobody is perfect.

I think it was meant that you should not kill yourself or anyone else. Now, in the old testament where it says you should not eat pork they meant just have it blessed first.

The bible laws include everyone including what you do to yourself. Do what you will is not a law, but an abomination that isn't in the Bible.

Don't kill another human.

And don't kill yourself cause if you're a good believer then you pay your 10% and if you die the church stops getting your $$$.

And if they said don't kill unless the victim pledges their inheritance to the church the motive would be clear for all to see.
