I think that this depends on the seriousness of the relationship. If you are just casually dating, then, there is probably no reason that the parents are involved at this stage. If you find yourself very involved and in love, then you need to confront the situation. This person is not going to be able to "hide" the relationship forever, nor would you want to feel that you cannot be proudly introduced to anyone in this person's life. Might be best to move on.

* they can and are willing to have a long-term relationship and possibly marriage even if their family opposes it, or
* the relationship is a casual one.
