i think nothing but great things about italy, the italians, and everything that goes with it. it is one of the best vacations i have ever taken and am planning on going again. all in all, it was such a hospitable country and culture and provides so many awesome opportunities for sightseeing and learning.

do keep in mind, like any other place in the world, it will have its not so safe places. but as long as you are aware then it should be a safe experience.

I lived in Sicily for 5 years. Absolutley loved it. The people are the greatest. In 5 years I only ran into 2 or 3 jerks. I find that many in one day in the US. For the most part it's safe there but like anyplace else don't leave your wallet laying in the town square. If you're thinking of a vacation you can't find a better place to go. The history, scenery and the people make for a very pleasant stay.

I'm an American and have been to three different countries besides my own......France, Switzerland, and Italy. Italy was the best though they were all great.

I went three years ago and fell in love with Italy and its people. Every thing is just so beautiful...the art, the scenery, the architecture, and of course the lovely people. While I was there we traveled to three different cities which were Rome, Assisi, and Florence and met the nicest people. They seemed to bend over backward to help you and I can't wait to go back!

I have been there it is very nice, the people are very friendly, and for the most part it is very safe. So people say the Naples isn't safe but I found it to be equivelent to our San Fransico. Just like any big city there are bad parts and good parts. Italy is one of my most favorite countries.

i've only been to and through Rome and it was wonderful! the people were nice and were appreciative of my slaughtering of their lovely language - at least i tried! we rode their metro and even walked about ending up in rather seedy areas - outside a prision.

everyone was so nice!! one neat tip we learned -- cab drivers can not and had better not cheat you.... they will loose their liscense! also the panhandlers - that was funny -- one we saw walking around shopping in some very posh stores and another threw the money given by someone because it wasn't a large enough coin!

I stayed in Venice for a week, and I found everyone there really nice. There was good food, and the architecture blew me away, it was incredibly beautiful. And I loved all the pace flags everywhere; my sister counted over a hundred.
