My cat does the same thing. That is a cat for ya! Let it go. your dog will learn to either defend itself or leave the cat alone. Your cat is just being dominent, and if it doesnt, the dog will. It is natural.

You don't say what kind of dog you have but assuming it's bigger than the cat then I'd not feed the dog for a couple days, tie a steak bone around the cat's neck and let the dog have it.

I just laugh when it happens!
As the dog walks or runs by the cat jumps on her back and attacks, then takes off and hides.

Is it your only cat? I have two cats and they attack each other all the time. They have never really hurt each other, I think they just like to attack. They can be really sneaky about it too.
