I don't think the actual video should be released. The actual strike happens in a fraction of a second. The rest of the video will be Steve knowing he was in big trouble. Personally I wouldn't want to see Steve suffering with the realization of his impending mortality. As a diver medic, I would like to see an animation of the coroner's report that shows how deep the penetration of the stinger, and what organs were damaged. Also as a medical point I would like to know if the cause of death was from blood loss or a reaction that resulted from envenomation. I think that Terri will have to make that final decision, and I don't think it is fair to ask that of her at this time.

The video of Steve Irwin attacked by a stingray is in possession of Australian authorities and will likely be destroyed.

Honestly speaking, who would really want to see a video of a man dying? A great man at that. What would we get out of seeing the video that was Steve's last?
I certainly would not want to remember an image of a great icon losing his/her life.
Just like what John Stainton said in an interview, it was the hardest thing that he ever did: Watched his friend die. I would not stand by it. I wouldn't really want to watch my idol die.
Like all the rest of us has said, we would like to remember Steve for his enthusiasm, his joy in his work, and his dedication to animals.
I would wish the same thing as Stainton wished for. I wish that they would just destroy that footage of Steve being stabbed by the stingray.
May Steve Irwin be blessed in Heaven, and may he rest in peace.

Although I am curious how a stingray attack human, I dont want to see anyone dies because of it. I love Steve Irwin very much and I'm a conservationalist myself although not dealing with any dangerous animals, however I can feel how he felt and loved to protect this animals. At least, he died at what he loved to do. If you want to watch sick things such as crocodile or lion harmed and killed human you may watch it at youtube.com You may also watch other footage of beautifull creatures that you have never watched before in discovery channels. But please dont watch it for pleasure. Learn some lessons that animals may have limits too, some people thought they are superior and invicible and start teasing and harms them...they attacked people mostly for self defence, not to hurts any human or to treats human as prey. I really miss Steve already. He is truly a unique person and no one can replace him. I love his passion and care to animals. Hope there will be more conservationalist like him in the future. Maybe Bindi and Bob will follow their father footsteps in the future. I pray for them,

This morning, I was listening to the radio and the announcer on the radio said that the family said they would show the footage, but I haven't heard anything else about it all day. I loved Steve, he was so awesome and down to earth, I would have loved to just spend one hour with him and watched what he did his whole life. I loved his voice, it just made me laugh, and put a smile on my face. We love and miss you Steve, my prayers are with the Irwin family.

Steve's best friend and business partner told Larry King last night that the tape will probably be destroyed after the police return it out of respect for Steve and his family.
Rest In Peace, Steve. You were Australian but the whole world loves you and I miss knowing you are working on behalf of our wonderful animal companions and fighting for their rights.... You truly understood that animals play an important part on Earth and in our lives.
Prayers for Terri, Bindi and Bob in this time of loss and veryyyy best wishes for your future. Your husband's and father's work, legacy and love for all Life will live on through you all.
Perhaps now more persons around the world who loved Steve will help to ensure his Life's work of protecting animals and educating humanity of their importance, continues and expands.
Angela.

Check it out- up your a$$ and around the corner. 'i just want to see how my true hero really died' is a bunch of crap. If you really cared, you would throw up or go into hysteria if you saw what really happened. If you don't think Steve Irwins death is a big deal, keep it to yourself so that people who actually knew him and met him personally and really care dont have to put up with scummish losers like you.

This is one of those things that won't probably be shown anywhere to respect Steve Irwin's family. This is similiar to Dale Earnhart's wife not wanting the autopsy photos to be released to the public after he died. My guess is that Steve Irwin's wife will not want any video or pictures released to the public any time soon.
