Many different factors in determining how much a root canal costs. It varies from dentist to dentist and also where you live. Are you having it done by a general dentist or an endodontist (a specialist that only does root canals)? Which tooth is it? The further back you go in the mouth, the more it will cost. Without any insurance coverage, expect to pay anywhere from $400-$1200 for a root canal.

It is usually about $300 for the root canal, $100 for the post to be put in, and another $300 for the crown so your talking right around $700 for the whole process. It can be a little less or more depending upon whether you have a metal crown or a porclin crown put in.

It depends on the dentist, whether you require antibiotics or pain medicine, which tooth and how many roots are affected on that tooth. Also what type of crown you want/they provide. Check with your particular dentist on your particular problem is my best advice!
