I just dyed my hair dark, dark brown (almost black) about two weeks ago . . . I had previously gone to a salon and had it highlighted so my hair is several colors under this dyed hair, ranging from blonde to dark brown) . . . after i dyed my hair dark, I decided I dont like it this dark and want it a little lighter. Alot of the black/brown dye has washed out, but it's still too dark.
What should I do?
I saw some haircolour that lifts your brown color lighter, but I dont know if this is for non dyed hair only . . .
I've done alot with my hair over the years, but now it's pretty healthy . . . I dont want to go back to the salon because I'm mad at my stylist for not listening to my request last time (I had asked for dark brown hair with red highlights, I came out of the salon with the medium/light brown hair with blonde highlights, he completely ignored what I said) so going back to the salon is out of the question . . . are there any new products out to help me?

I'm a hairstylist. I would wait a bit and see how much more color fades out. Wash it a few times with dishwashing soap. (It is alkaline and will swell the cuticle so the color slips out faster) To get it out at this point requires bleach. You have to be careful about bleach over bleach process. But I don't know the condition of your hair. If it is good shape, it can take some more highlites.

I don't know if coloring it again right now is a good idea, you may end up with orange hair and then what will you do ?? just give it a little time, color does not fix hair it may make it look allot better it still has damage. I would condition it very well, not just a hot oil treatment(they don't work) but a good conditioner. them maybe you can GO TO A PRO. you are not dealing with just regular hair now. it has been bleached and dyed so you really don't know what It may do I would not attempt it your self. And next time speak up for your self and tell the stylist that you are not happy. I would much rather have a happy client than an unhappy one. Good Luck !! Sorry I didn't have much good news for you.

I'm in the same boat. Wanted to go back to my own color (dark blonde) and get rid of highlights. I am now dark brown (with blonde eyebrows) and my stylist, of 20 years!, insists that this is my color. It's horrible. Everything I've heard says just wait it out. I'm miserable and thinking of highlights again because I can't live with this. I've washed it 7 times in 24 hours!! Good luck. I feel your pain. And for the record, ignore Sweet Pea's answer. I read her messages and obviously she isn't too bright.

Wait it out, or go to a friends salon.

You cannot dye ontop of a dark dye with a lighter dye hoping to "lift".

The color lift products at pro shops lift ALL color from your hair, like all the way to platinum blond.

Maybe you could try highlighting with a product that is meant to go on dyed hair.

i do no longer understand if coloring it back precise now's a good suggestion, you are able to finally end up with orange hair and then what is going to you do ?? merely supply it a touch time, coloration does no longer restoration hair it could make it look allot greater appropriate it nonetheless has injury. i might situation it ok, no longer purely a warm oil therapy(they do no longer paintings) yet a good conditioner. them perchance you are able to visit a specialist. you're no longer handling merely properly-known hair now. that's been bleached and dyed so which you rather do no longer understand what it ought to do i does no longer attempt it your self. And next time talk up for your self and tell the stylist which you're no longer chuffed. i might lots somewhat have a chuffed client than an unhappy one. good success !! Sorry i did no longer have lots good information for you.

first of all, just do the hair color lift thing since ur hair is healthy. ask a friend to suggest u to another salon. but i think ur stylist's way is better than ur way since he/she's a prof. but just go to another if u dun like him/her. anyways, u should get extensions, they work well and u can choose the shade before u put them on so u noe wat color it is before u extend them to ur hair. just do a deep conditioner (neutrogena deep conditioner) every week to keep ur hair healthy.

Wait at least 2 more weeks or you'll dry your hair out.
