It seems that much of what happens on a federal level doesn't affect me much but issues like local mill levies and school bills direct me directly. Which do you feel have more of an impact?

I think they're equal though you may feel the affect of local politics more directly.

Most people are not smart enough to think on Politics. I'll give you credit for bringing it up. Federal, State and Local Politics all effect every American, Man, Woman and child.
I was forced to sell my Home of 23 years, which I loved dearly. It was not a mansion by any means but it was mine, paid for. Local school taxes (property) went up 33 percent in four years, I was paying $1000 per year with no kids in school. I checked and the local city Republicans were diverting taxes from schools to business, they call this "TIFs", They were doing "TIFs" at the State level as well. That got me interested in politics real quick.
I found that the Federal Government gives billions to business.
I checked and Corporations pay hardly any taxes into the Local, State and Federal Government. I pay taxes and they give my tax money away to Corporations. I sold my house to avoid the tax.

Local politics effect you directly. What happens on the federal level has an impact on how things are done on the local level. It is wise to be involved on both levels, it is the best way to effect change.

The power needs to be given back to the states. The federal gov. job is to provide security and manufacture money. Other than that, grass roots politics should be the bones of this country.

Both.

The federal laws will be used against you just like the local laws, by our American Police Units.

Local things are much more noticeable, but both are important and affect you.
