. Hire someone to come in and check on the animal and walk the animal once or twice a day. It is not fair to the dog to be left alone all day.

As long as your dog is completely house broken it would be safe to leave him/her. If not find a room with linoleum flooring or put them in a kennel. It would be best if someone could go home to take the dog out about half way through the day, if not, and he is house broken, he will be fine. a dog 6 months old should be able to "hold" it for at least 6 hours.

I don't know much about your situation but at 6 months old my dog stayed at home alone for about 10 hours with no problem. It really depends on the dog. If you're not sure your dog would behave itself or would go to the bathroom in the house you could crate it while you're gone or see if their are any neighbors who are home and would be willing to let him out during the day for a while, that would at least be cheaper than a whole day at doggie day care. fi you do leave him at home save some special toys that he only gets when you leave (I've seen toys where you can actually record your own voice for them to listen to).

First of all you should have not gotten the dog in the first place if school was in your planning. DO not force this dog to stay indoors alone as a pup? What a crappy life. Please consider a new home for the dog.
Leaving the dog inside all day with no one, will teach it bad behaviours, which you wont be around enough to control, or fix. Not to mention the dog going potty in the house.
Please, do what is best for the DOG, not you.

If the dog is housebroken, there is nothing wrong with leaving her at home in the living room while you are at school. She does not, or should not, need constant supervision.
Be sure she has clean water readily available. And because she had a good walk, and did her jobs, both of them, before you leave.

get the dog a kennel until you can trust her in the house...or confine her to a non-carpeted room. Make sure she has toys and bones so she wont get into your stuff and chew them up. THen when you can trust her let her run free in your house, that way they are cooped up in a small cage all day and go crazy when you get home. They will have so much energy that they are likely to get themselves in trouble. Your dog will thank you for letting her be free all day:)
Good Luck!

To keep her safe, and to keep your stuff safe, it would be best to kennel train her. Make sure she has enough room to move around comfortable, but not enough room that she has two ends.
She will learn that her kennel is her safe place, and that she has to control her bladder and bowels while she is in there. (she doesn't want to stay in there with it) If she has too much room she will learn that she can relieve herself at one end and go to the other end to get away from it.
It's not cruel to kennel train dogs, if she ever has to go to the vet for any length of time, she will be put in a kennel. If you compete in any doggie events you will have to have a kennel for her to be in. So think of it as keeping her safe.

how many hours are you gone everyday?
if it's only for a few hours then try to kennel train it but if you have a different schedule everyday then you are going to have a hard time potty training it or getting it on a feeding schedule. If you are going to be gone for a long time everyday you might just want to give the dog to someone who can take care of it and give it more time. remember you aren't going to be paying attention to it and taking it for walks if you are doing homework and studying for tests. what kind of life is that for a dog

If you have to leave your dog at home along, be sure to leave him/her in a confined area. I have found the bathroom to be the best and easiest place to confine a dog to. Use newspaper on the floor, plenty of food and water. Good luck.

Can you pen off your dog somewhere like the bathroom maybe a better idea, but close the toilet lid and dog proof your bathroom, you would be surprised what they can get into.( you don't want him getting sick from shampoos, etc.) Don't forget to leave it water and a little food.
