Lets see who contributes more percentage wise and which states screw the american worker more, you can be as detailed as you want.. I made $39,000 Gross in 2005, my net which is totaled after state and federal taxes, Medicare and Social Security I will never see, and any payments on health benefits package is $27,100, I got $600 in federal and $340 in state returns, I was in MN but Im in Wi now. Is this bad or what? I file as single male and claim 1 all year. Lets See, and be honest with numbers, I made less than $20,000 a year gross for many years and last year was my highest income ever, lets be accurate.

single filers get screwed especially in states with high state taxes like MN 5-7%, just be glad it isnt NY where it can go above 12.5%. the government makes many laws to reduce your taxes to 0 which is my goal every year, most years i don't make it but some of them i have got quite close. If you don't want to pay taxes legally then look for legitimate deductions and use them to your advantage like i do. I won't go into my numbers as i will probably get a lot of crap for it.

I won't tell what we grossed, but we did pay $18,000 in taxes and due to the fact i was laid off, we have two kids, we got back $6,000. Yes the gov't screws us all so we can pay for all the people who fraudulently file for welfare.

Oh yeah, I live in Texas and there are no states taxes here.

Thanks for sharing that information. I'd do the same but I don't know. My wife handles that **** and I'm not going to ask her where the paperwork is and dig it out.
