LOL Hell no he wouldn't send them. He has only been to Iraq a few times since all this started 5 years ago!!
My Hubby is over there now,and they are so ready to get out. Bush doesn;t know what the hell they are doing,or why we are there now.
There have been at least four rationales. First we were told that Saddam had WMD, and that he even was working on a drone which could deliver a nuclear weapon to America. Rice said that we shouldn't wait for the mushroom cloud. Bush said we had to strike preemptively before a nation became an imminent threat. After WMD were not found, we were told we were bringing democracy to the country, by ridding it of a genocidal tyrant. Next, we were told that we were fighting terrorism over there so that it would not come to the United States. Then Bush and Cheney tried to associate Saddam Hussein with the 9/11 terrorists, so we were in Iraq to strike back at the 9/11 terrorists. Then we were told we were fighting to establish a "new Middle East" but that was not really defined, except as a place of modernity and "freedoms".. As of today, per Bush's most recent speech, it seems as though we are in Iraq fighting a global war on radical Islam. Who knows how long we get lied to,and what the next reason will be.....Do what Barbara should have made Bush Senior do-PULL OUT BUSH!!!
GET US OUT OF IRAQ!!!!!

Nobody sends their children to "off to fight in the war." It is a choice made by some who are very aware of the possibilities associated with this choice. I believe that if the President's children were to fight, it should not be a shock to anyone. Princes the world over have joined (by choice or tradition) their nation's armed services. Prince William of Wales of the United Kingdom of Great Britain offered to serve in open conflict on the front lines in service of his country very recently, for instance. However, a problem rises here which would rise also if the President's child were to make such an offer: that being the Secret Service's Family Protection Unit, which would not be likely to serve in their role very effectively or willingly were they to draw this particular assignment.

And this "war thing" will end eventually, but not until such a time as it is appropriate. Unfortunately for all involved, that time has not yet come.

No parent sends their son or daughter off to war. It's an all volunteer military. They volunteer all on their own, amny at the strong objections to their parents, even more with their blessings.

This war "thing" as you put it will end, but not with the help of ideals such as yours.

Do our fighting men and women a favor read more than the local newspaper, get a clue, then post a real question.

2cents - How many President's children have been in combat? How smart would that be to have them in combat where they can be captured by the enemy? If you were talking about President Johnson's war where they were drafted, then maybe you have something, but this is a volunteer force. This thing will end, it will go faster if people would get behind it, because you don't want it to end in our defeat.

The politicians who decide on war should be required to send their loved ones to war. Or better yet, go themselves. Maybe then they would be more inclined to settle things without wars.

Of course he would. That is if parents were able to 'send of' their kids like a letter to wherever they wanted them to go(if the kids had no choice or say in the matter). Of course, here in America, we have an ALL VOLUNTEER armed forces. you have to decide for yourself that you want to join, and even sign lots of paperwork saying so...
