Because it is potentially too close to the birth. Some women can go into labour a good few weeks before the usual 36 week gestation period is up, so its taking too big a risk for the insurance company to insure someone who has a higher than fair chance of developing a possible complication.

Also, some airlines have restrictions on how far along you are for flying. Its worth checking out, rather than show up at the airport to be refused boarding.

I think I have found your solution. I believe your daughter WILL be able to get travel insurance.

Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and click on the red phone booth. On the new page, put in your home country and the other requested information to get a quote.

I went to the site to be sure they would not ask her about pregnancy and they DID NOT. So, if they don't ask, they don't care. Check it out. If it suits you and her, you can buy it on-line.

I hope you enjoy your trip together!!

Best wishes.

Obviously cos she is a long way into her pregnancy and if something happens they are not willing to take the risk. Insurance companies enjoy taking cash but dislike paying it out !

i beleive that some countries prefer not to let pregnant ladies into their country after 22 weeks as it is quite possibe that a baby would survive if born that early. if the baby is born in that country then they can legally hve dual nationality. you really need to speak with your travel agent and midwife to confirm this.

The insurance company doesn't want to be held liable if she goes into labor while traveling.

becasue she is an almost sure liability, I wouldn't bet on her either, the chances are too high.
