You need to mack sure that you have connected the wires the right way round,To keep the radio stations you need to make sure that the perminate live is connected to a 12 volt supply that stays live when the car ignition is off. Then the ignition live needs to show 12 volt when the ignition is on and 0 volts when switched off.On a standard ISO leads the perminant live is yellow and ignition live is red.I hope this helps, any more probs drop me a line with the make of the stereo and car and i will break it down more for you.

Most radios require 2 power supplies a fused live that is energised when the ignition is turned on, this is the main supply for the radio.
The other is a permanent fused live direct from the battery and keeps all the stored information.
Some car manufacturers have these wired at different pins on the wiring harness plug and it probably just requires swapping round.
If your able to get hold of a 12VDC test lamp check your wiring harness (ignition off) to determine the permanent feed and again (Ignition on) to determine the other.

You've probably only got one live feed to the unit, and its wired via the ignition switch. Most car audio installations have two lives, one wired via the ignition switch, and another that's always live even when the ignition is off (one's a red wire, and the other is yellow, but I can't remember which is which).
Your CD/Radio unit needs this second feed to keep its stations.

Vauxhall's have "humorous" wiring so your Pionneer from the Vectra is under pressure in yet differently. the undertaking is that the potential to the unit is being disconnected once you turn off the ignition. you could usually replace the 'constantly On' and the 'Ignition' potential to remedy the undertaking... verify the wiring diagram...

There is a power wire that needs to be hook up to uninterrupted power. Usually its yellow. This sup lies the power to keep memory stored. Look over the installation sheet that came with the radio to see which wire it is.
