1) I would use Baking Soda... not powder 2) The salty taste is from the "Soda" (I have brushed with just baking soda, try it, you'll understand the taste aspect 3) If you want cloves, I would stick with either the clove essential oil or purchase clove powder. 4) As far as improving the taste... that is all a matter of preference. Other options could be Orange Ess.Oil, or maybe using peppermint/spearmint powdered herb instead of the ess. oils would be a milder effect. 5) see #4 6) FYI: vegetable glycerin is a natural product (as long as you get it from a reliable source) Sometimes I have used simply and herbal combination in powder form, and just wet my tooth brush.

In the spices aisle of your grocery store. McCormick brand sells a bottle that grinds it as you use it, but I am sure you can pry of the top if you need a significant amount at once. I believe the price is around $4USD for a normal spice bottle size.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.

Most craft stores carry them. I've gotten them at Pat Cattans, also gourmet food markets.

Call your local health food store, they'll likely have it. I've also found it in good supermarkets -- give them a call, too.
