if i saw enough evidence i would believe Jesus died for my sins. but i don't. why would a Loving God condemn me to eternal torture for something that is out of my hands? i can't control whether i believe in God or not any more then you can control whether you believe your hair is made out of spaghetti or not.

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.

If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.

First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.

How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?

It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.

One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.

Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.

If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.

If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.

How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.

Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.

If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.

How likely is that????

Think about it.

The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

God would not and will not.
This bullshit is propagated by the Christian Churches so that they can keep their stranglehold on the faithfull. Give you a quick quote from my book "The Plain Truth About God-101" (what the church doesn't want you to know!)

** The bible states clearly that nobody can earn his salvation through morality and good deeds (Gnosticism) since we are all sinful by nature. We have the perfect catch 22 situation were only in the blind acceptance of Christ atoning for our deeds can we be saved.
In other words, we are in a no-win situation against the so-called logic of the shaman; if we do not take his word for it then all is lost! –A.W.J.

And this;

** The promise of eternal life is a powerful drug that is hard to resist. Bring the people in with promises of everlasting reward, happiness and the answer to life's problems, and then tell them that the only was this can be achieved is to follow your instructions absolutely. (What a way to get adulation and subservience from the great-unwashed masses. Become the overlords and protectors of the faith). A.W.J.

And this;

One of the most contentious issues from the works of Paul is the subject of the resurrection. St. Paul, along with St. Clement of Alexandria after him (115-215 C.E.) took the allegorical / spiritual approach to the scriptures and would have been shocked to see the way today’s “Christianity” often distorts the original reality.

You cant understand if your not saved, until the Holy Spirit shows you. The bible says unless the Father draws you there is no conversion. You cant get saved any time you feel like it. I wish me as a christian with my human mind could see sin as God does. But our punny finite mind cant. He made it clear that He hates sin. Sin is and will always be a choice not an accident and for this comment u made, "i can't control whether i believe in God or not any more then you can control whether you believe your hair is made out of spaghetti or not". Sin is the cause people are going to hell, rejecting salvation is the reason and choice people will put themselves in Hell, not God because you werent good enough or too bad. When people stand before the one who died for them they will know that Christ didnt condemn them to hell cause He wanted to but because of no repentence. Its not a process or works or being good enough, if you look at the thief on the cross, at first He didnt believe Christ was the Son of God but at one instant he turned to the Lord and said "remember me when You get to heaven" and Christ told him, "Today you will be with me in paradise". If you choose not to become a christian, fine if thats what you want. I dont want you to think you dont have a choice or say so. Also the bible says that without faith its impossible to please Christ. If you want physical evidence like an angel or Christ Himself coming to tell you, it will not happen. All the evidence you will get is Gods' word, the Holy Spirit convicting you to be saved, and testimonies from others. It takes faith in His grace to be saved, read Eph 2:8-9.

Good Q. Love the stupid responses..... What I cant wrap my head around is this notion that God doesnt condemn you to hell...he gives you a choice, and you make that choice, so you are in hell by your own hand. But this doesnt make sense either - why would an all loving, all powerful, omniscient God even allow for hell to exists? If he were truly all loving and all knowing, he would know that his creations would make mistakes and poor choices, and, in his infinite love, would prevent any eternal damnation. But he doesnt.

Therefore, either this God doesnt exist, or he is not all powerful nor all loving, and is in fact a big bully that demands lunch money (worship) in exchange for soul salvation.

Id rather burn in mythical hell.

Muslims believe in One Creator, we believe in all His Prophets, we believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was one of the mightiest Prophets of God, That he was the Messiah as well as the Word of God, that he was born miraculously - without any male intervention (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today), that he gave life to the deeds by God's Permission, and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by God's Permission. Believe that God is the most Merciful and the most Gracious and it is in God that you can be forgiven.

John 3:17 " For God did not send the Son to the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him."

Exactly -- and here is a better question: How can you love a god that would send good men to hell just because they don't believe. I'll not worship a god that uses the same criteria for sending people to Hell that Hitler used for sending people to Auchwitz.

well, your hair is not made out of spaghetti. If you don't see enough evidence for God, and you are seeking it, than keep on seeking it. God promises that those who seek, will find, and those who ask, will have their questions answered. So if you really want to know more about God, I would suggest checking out the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the bible. Maybe find a church group around you that you can get plugged into, like a bible study. I am sure they would help you look for more evidence. Try checking out the book, a purpose driven life, or if you want a more intellectual read, look for the book "The Case for Christ". That is what I would suggest.

Ah, but you can control your beliefs! And the God who created the universe, and that it contains as well as all the laws which govern it, expects you to exercise the capacity for rational thought that He gave you, and the freedom to choose whether to believe or not. Since He created HE alone has the power to make the rules! And the rules include the notions of good and evil; right and wrong; as well as your choice! The common modern notion is that God is ONLY a God of love, but the Bible clearly teaches that He is also a God of wrath. He has set the ground rules for life such that the only person or entity that condemns anyone to hell is themself!

There is no such thing as sin.

"The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage?" - Dan Barker.

And there is no such thing as god(s).

"There is no such thing as a god. If such a creature existed, belief would be rendered unnecessary, and the entire system of organized religion would collapse." -Ron Barrier
