Is it true that a true lady does't drink from a pint glass & those that do are scum.?

I have noticed that women that drink pints of beer from pint glasses are scum. My wife drinks expensive wine from expensive glasses and is a lady and not a 'piss wine' chav like the remainder

I kinda agree with you mate, but it's true for men/women alike. Its a psychological acknowledgement of social economical divide. Like a stereotype. You will hardly see the upper class drinking beer let alone drinking from a pint glass, although things are changing now. I drink beer from a pint glass, but I much prefer certain spirits and good wine and that of course cannot be drunk from a pint glass. They are relatively more expensive as well. So by drinking beer, in a way, shows my social-economic class. I however only drink beer to keep others company. I don't know I just don't like the stuff. So I hardly drink cause I don't like beer and can't afford to regularly buy the stuff I like.

I think scum is going too far. The word your looking for is working class as scum is a behavioural description which obviously can be applied to the upper class too.

Wow, you are really projectinng there aren't you? You must have some very deep seated insecurities, judging yourself on how much "better" you are than other people. Projecting your insecurities onto others around you, well rest assured that you will be equally judged, hopefully when it matters most to you. I bet you kid yourself you are happy as well. Either that or you are a complete sociopath, I wonder if your wife finds your arrogance annoying, or is she just totally dominated by you.

Speaking as a lady, who went to finishing school, I can tell you, that in the days when etiquette meant so much more than today in terms of social bearing, that ladies most certainly did not drink from pint glasses. However, gentlemen did not do so often either, wine and brandy and port would be more their scene. Whiskey for shooting and sherry at Christmas, weddings and funerals. Then again, ladies didn't have to go out to work, or even raise their own children, they were the head of the household and knew how to run it, and its staff (except the husband's valet) with precision.

Saying that, I have friends from many backgrounds and those from the upper echelon of society, whith whom I grew up, are rather superficial, however my "piss wine" (odd term that) chav friends have been known to open their doors to me, and others in need, and share what they had, food, clothing, even if that was very little. They will be blessed.

Cream always rises to the top, but so does 'scum'. And by froth, scum is delicious. If your 'lady' thinks highly of herself for drinking wine from expensive glasses, surely she holds the glass correctly, she prepares the wine in the bottle before serving it (vous le pouvez chambrer, non?) and serves it the right temperature in a suitable ambiance. Also of course she should know what sort of wine she is drinking, some knowledge of its origins and ingredients would not go amiss. Just so she could appreciate it, for what it is.

I cannot shake this idea however that your ladyfriend likes a bottle of overpriced plonk. Surely if such dribble as this comes out of her mouth, she'd put the same sort of thing in? Not that there's much wrong with plonk, but sometimes she could do with a proper drink. A Guinness perhaps, or dare I say it: a single malt whisky.

When I worked in a bar, I was trained to ask people buying a half-pint of lager if they wanted it in a "ladies glass" - a bit fluted, widest, narrower in the middle, and wideish at the bottom. Blokes rarely ordered a half of anything!

I'm from Lancashire, where working class certainly don't expect women to drink pints. That does seem to be changing with the "ladette" culture though. To be honest, I'd much rather see a lass order a respectable full pint than spend loads and get completely hyper and tanked up on sugary, crappy alcopops.

However, I'd also rather stick pins in my eyes than drink beer myself, so hard to judge!

Depends where your at; If it is Friday night at 7.00pm and your just starting the night and as a your sober a pint of beer isn't any different from a pint of coke but if its 11.00pm and you cant walk straight or your heads dizzy and you cant talk any sense then i looks bad. Pubs are okay to drink pint if you can hold your drink.

My father told me this same crap when I was at UNI. I never drink wine.

I think it is worse when women order a pint of lager then get a half pint glass and waste half their drink trying to pour it in! I don't drink halves and I don't consider myself to be a chav or scum! What gives you the right to lable people?!?

Here's a question... If your wife drinks only "expensive wine from expensive glasses," why is she drinking in such close proximity to scummy women swilling beer from pint glasses? And why are you looking at other women?

How about this - take your uppity self and your uppity wife out of the local pub and drink your expensive wine from your expensive glasses in the privacy of your own home and quit bothering regular folk.

A "lady" will drink fine wine from fine glasses, usually using proper etiquette and table manners, making sure no drop is dripped on to her fine gown. Which might leave you to make sure all the finest posessions the world has to offer are waiting for her at all times in her fine lap. (Make sure she can see you passed her high nose). A "woman" is one who is not afraid to chug with the best of men, wherever, whenever in a tall frosty pint and can chase it down with a bottle of Jack and a shot of Four Horsemen! Then being able to walk a straight line and hold a decent conversation. Allowing you to be comfortable as yourself and can live with all the non possesional, finer things in life.

Does it really matter what sort of glass you drink from - surely "scum" cannot be seperated from "true ladies" by the type of glass they drink from?

that is a really awful generalisation my friend would only ever drink pints and she is one of the most caring selfless and patient people even when drunk, no matter what she says also dont be surprised if a woman breaks a pint glass on your head next time youre in your local
