Well like I tell everyone, if you aren't sure what branch, go talk to all the different recruiters and see what they have to offer. I suggest the Marine Corps if you want a physical and mental challenge. Before you talk to a recruiter, know what you are wanting...at least an idea. Recruiters are very persuasive, and could talk you into something that you don't really want. Each branch has the same pay. They all offer bonuses, how much depends on what you are willing to do. And they all pay for school. Good luck. After reading some more of these responses....just go talk to a recruiter. It seems that half of these people don't even know what they are talking about, and have never been in the military...recruiter recruiter recruiter.

Whichever branch you choose, I'd recommend joining reserves, and be sure to sign up for some kind of college tuition package.

All branches have offer great opportunities, each different from the other. Visit each branch's sight, and try to find something that interests you about each one. Then after comparing them side by side, narrow it down to what you want the most.

Personally, if I could do things over again, I'd join the Coast Guard. I think that it offers great opportunities for emergency service skills that you can easily take with you into a civilian job: helicoptor pilot, ocean search and rescue, port security, law enforcement, and so many others.

Air Force! But for the person who said "If you don't like to camp..." The Air Force does a lot of "camping" too. I have seen my husband go to several different places and would have prefered to go to "tent city" then the s**t hole third world country dorms on a military base that if you weren't careful you would get a nasty shock when you took a shower, with ice cold water, and in the 3 inch scum from everyone else who showered before you. I won't lie, it's not sunshine and roses all the time, but the benifits you get while you are in and if you make a career out of it, when you get back into civillian life make up for all the crap things. Also you will have really cool stories, just a bit of advice of job path, go Air Force and try to get a flying job, i.e. boom operator, flight engineer, or loadmaster. Stay away from doing anything maintence. They have a very rough life.

Good luck!

The Air Force is probably the best choice (but the hardest to get into). The Navy is second best (has the best food and fairly low physical standards and you probably won't see much combat). The Marine Corps is for the more "gung-ho" types (you will be brainwashed and used as cannon fodder). The Army (especially Infantry) is the lowest branch on the military totem pole (the poor idiots who can't get into the USAF, USN, or USMC usually end up here - can you say "I'm DEFINITELY going to Iraq"?) I think the Coast Guard is an option as well, but I don't know much about them.

In order of how they treat you like a human being. It'd be air force, navy, army, marines. Army and Marines are sometimes inhumanely hard on people, not saying that Air Force or Navy is harder. All of the tangible benefits are pretty much the same. Navy likes to push travel-side of the job, air force requires intelligence. Army purpose just for number of people that they can get. Marines is sorta a break off of the navy, but marines is more like the "specialist" army. As in someone in marine branch learning logistics or artillery with be better off than one in the army branch.

I'd say go talk to a recruiter, but they have a tendency to lie to you a lot. But hell, get a free meal out of it.

What do you want to do after your service? Tailor this to the branch of service. Do not omit the Coast Guard. Since they are part of the Homeland Security, get your training and be part of the HS. With all the crazy people of the world, you have job security and good pay. The fishing is always great! Stay away from long deployment. I've missed my daughter's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and almost the 5th birthday. She sure don't skip a beat reminding me to this day.

I was in the Army and I loved it. I would suggest you visit recruiters from all of the branches to see who offers you the best deal, bonus and rank.

Also research them all on your own and find out who has the best programs to suit you and your talents. As I said I loved the Army but after I joined I found out about some of the programs in the Coast Guard and I think I could have served better there.

Either way thanks for signing up

All the branches are great. My husband is in the Army, but he always tells people when they talk about joining the forces, to not join the Army or Marines, and go to either the Air Force or Navy.

Depends on you mostly. Testing will tell you which branch or branches you are qualified to enter. Then go visit the recruiter from those branches and find out what jobs you are qualified for... then decide... don't rush into anything you'l be sorry about later... For instance if you hate to camp...don't go army or marines... Just an example!!

At your age, training and credentials, you dont ought to ask anybodys permission. I savour the actual undeniable reality that you've been good in the way you presented it on your moms and dads. do no longer take your moms and dads with you. You already tried to lead them to portion of it and they stole your thunder and used discouraeing words. You out of respect tried it their way and it didnt paintings. I persoanlly am an Aviator and flew the UH-60 Black Hawk and the C-23 fastened wing and pronounced allot of lady pilots interior the 20 yrs i change into in. After your performed the following, google Warrant Officer Candadiate college if youve no longer already performed so. this resources you with an top income over the recruiter. From the following on out, dont communicate of it on your moms and dads and pass see the recruiter on your man or woman. in case you dont get the slot, worry no longer. pass for flight operations or something else aviation appropriate because you could continually initiate a "Flight college Packet" later after your in. i in my opinion change into denied two times and change right into a helicopter mechanic first, so pass figure. If all that fails, then see a recruiter at a Aviation nationwide seem after facility. Your a lady now and dont opt to be held through the hand.
