I'm fostering a little and one of the kittens has a birth defect and he is the runt. The bigger ones pin him down too. If I catch it, I break it up. But we're not always here and he is still alive. Must be just play, because after that they clean each other. What a life!

This is just fun simple kitten brotherly play. If you are concerned about the lil one getting hurt, pick the bigger one up by the scruff ( like its mother owuld) and place him aside for just a moment, distract him . Eventually he'll learn that when you start comin when he's playin rough, he'll stop right away. I have 3 related male cats, and it's sure worked for me!!

It's just play. If it were a real fight, there would be scratches, blood, etc. Two kittens of whatever sex, brought up together, should be OK together for life as long as they are neutered at 6 to 8 months.
Be sure that both of them become used to regular, gentle handling by people, to the point where they will accept tooth brushing.

sounds like they could be playing but just keep an eye and and see if the hair on the back of the kittens stand up..normally thats a sign of fighting, not playing.

They're playing, at only eight weeks old. They sound like candidates for early neutering -- get them neutered at about six months. Be sure to get them their shots too, to protect against feline diseases (your veterinarian will make recommendations).
Good luck and enjoy your kittens. Get yourself a nice long string and play with them.

My cats beat up on each other all the time. One of them will hide and pounce on the other when they walk by. As long as you don't see any injuries, they're probaly all right.
