If some speak only French and some speak only English how do they solve the communication problem?

It isn't a question of either/or. Most speak both, and in order to become an officer you have to be fluent in both languages. However, the working language is English.

Canadian military, being a federal entity, is bilingual. I suppose the main language is English, but all high ranking officers have to speak both languages.

Being french Canadian myself, I can confirm that we are taught the english language early in school, so must of us can speak both of them, or at least, we learn fast enough since english is pretty much everywhere.

Most people in the Canadian Forces are multilingual and are capable of speaking and understanding both official languages.

they usually have classes for the language you don't speak
