The dish that's handy. You can bake an apple pie in a pie plate (made from anything from ceramic to clay/stoneware to metal to glass to (gasp!) aluminum foil). There are deep dish pie plates, or if you only have casserole dishes, make a single crust pie with the crust on the top only. If you have an oven safe frying pan, that would work (just make sure it's deep enough to hold the apples). You can also make a "freeform apple pie" by rolling the crust out and putting it on a cookie sheet, piling the apples, spices and sugar in the middle, then folding up the edges of the crust.

are you serious? A pie plate - it is usually glass. You can even get a deep dish pie plate. Usually 9 in.
