I don't even know how many cycles per second my car's alternator makes, do you?

What's the device called (that would make 12 volts @ 20,000 cycles per second), where would one be obtained, and do you know how much the unit would cost?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Sorry if someone thought this was a bogus question, I'm just not brilliant enough to know exactly what I'm talking about.

I appreciate very much all the good tips.

Since it's called an alternator, I incorrectly thought its output was AC, evidently (from all your fine answers) it puts out DC. What I need is 12 volts AC at 20,000 cycles per second.

Thanks again for all your great input.

Generating 20,000 cps signals is easy. The question is how much power do you need? A simple transistor oscillaror can generate signals at 20,000 cps. Just think, TV remote controls from the 1970s. Larger power units can be built using the same technology that 12 volt to 120 volt AC power converters are made. These are relatively inexpensive and are built using integrated circuits to generate the signal and then using large power MOSFETs to switch the power for the output. The actual output is done using a transformer.

The short answer. How much power is needed?

Unless you are rewiring the inside of the alternator, it puts out 12 volts DC, not AC. Inside the alternator, you have AC, but the frequency depends on the RPM's of the motor and hence the alternator. The AC is fed to full wave rectifiers to create DC. The DC is fed to the external connections of the alternator.

How much power do you need? If it's not unusually high, a good audio amp that runs on 12 VDC can provide the power level. You just need to attach a 20 kHz source to the input of the amp. A function generator should do that for you.

This question may either be bogus, or the inquirer is asking a question that is untrue:

Car electrical systems are 12 volts DC. This means that the current runs directional and does not altaernate back and forth like AC, therefore it does not have a cycle per second ratio.

It's unclear what you are looking for!!!!!!!
I think you might be mixing up voltages and frequencies.

With a frequency generator you can change the frequency.

To change from one voltage value to another you need a voltage step-up transformer (about 12 volts DC to about 20, 000 volts DC for a car).

It's probably parts of the alternating system or distribution system you are looking for.

For car parts, try an Auto shop or garage. For electrical equation try an Electrical wholesaler. I don't know about the prices.

Actually, this is a very simple problem. All you need is an Audio Oscillator that is powered by 12 Volts DC. Most Audio Oscillators will generate sine and square wave signals from a few Hz to 40,000 to 50,000 Hz or higher.

12 volt Direct Current from a car's alternator usually is around 50-60 Hertz to increase it to 20k you could build a inductance reactance transformer whereby passing the 12volts 60hz through a multible-stage step-up coil system to derive a frequency of 20k hz, I'm not sure what the math would be for determining the coil windings and also decreasing the voltage via a voltage regulator so not to ramp the volatge along with the frequency.

WaAlaikumAsalaam my sisterr! In your question you stated the Shahada, "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh) is His Messenger". So basically you are a Muslim now. :P You are now a Muslim, say "Alhamdulillah", but in the mean time you can just decide how you want to tell your parents...It is seriously so strange, every revert I've known, they're parents are either totally against Islam or they have some kind of problem. But there was one revert who became a better person, started respecting his parents, and the parents saw the big change in him and they were so happy. Other times being that parents have actually became Muslims after their children. It's just amazing.. You decide if you want to tell your parents. Remember you can even give Dawah to them, an invitation to Islaam. Take care, salaam. :)

You could use an electric keyboard and hit a high pitched note at 20,000 hertz, the electronic signal will be that high.

Why precisely do you need to make a 20,000 Hz electric current?

That's highly unusual.

American households all run on 60 Hz electricity.
(This had better not be for a weapon)
