He didn't. Mary was doing the nasty outside of marriage or quite possibly, was raped. Joseph, a respectable and loving man, protected her and got her out of that town (or maybe he believed the whole "Messiah" story, himself). They needed a good story to tell and the truth -- though a beautiful story of chivalry and nobility today -- would have gotten her severely punished, and her child stigmatized. It's a perfect story of how children will become what you tell them they are. :-)

Because God promised Eve upon casting her out of the Garden that the savior of the world would be of her seed.

And God promised David that one of his descendants would sit on the throne of Israel for eternity.

And, I suppose, Jesus had to be a human in order to be considered to truly be "one of us" (there is a lot of theology packed into that one statement, but I don't feel like giving a long explanation here).

In short, God didn't "need" Mary or anyone else, since John the Baptist pointed out that God could "turn the very stones into Sons of Abraham". But God choose to make certain promises to certain people, and he chose Mary to carry it out.

First, it is reasonable to expect that if God were to become man, his entry into the world would be, to say the least, unusual. God could have made his advent into the world in such a spectacular way that there would have been no doubt that it had taken place. But God had to identify himself entirely with the human race. The incarnate God had to be both human and divine. This was accomplished in the wisdom of God in the virgin birth of Christ. This event was one of the prophecies of the Old Testament about the Messiah (Is. 7:14) and it is stated by Matthew, the Gospel writer to the Jews, to have been fulfilled literally (Mt. 1:23). This miraculous birth also ensured that the child would be free from the taint of original sin, an indispensable requirement for the task Jesus was to perform on earth.

Adam and Eve were not around when God needed to create a son..Jesus. That's why he asked Mary who had always wanted a child, but could never conceive.

Only a sinless man could legitimately redeem mankind.

Due to the nature of original sin, no normal man could be born without sin.

Born of the immaculately conceived Virgin Mary, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was truly man, truly God, and truly sinless.

By allowing the forces of evil to unjustly put him to death, Jesus destroyed Satan's dominion over mankind, and by his resurrection, Jesus constituted himself as the new and sinless head of all humanity.

Then, through his church, Jesus restored our freedom of choice and made possible the forgiveness of sins.

The rest is history!

He didn't need Mary. His birth fulfilled old testament prophecy in every detail! The savious couldn't come of of the sky like Superman. He was born as a human, just like all of us. Mary accepted him, and she knew her role.

Jesus was both fully man and fully God. He had to be concieved in the womb of a woman to be human, and one of His parents had to be God in order to be fully God.

This fulfilled prophecy, as well...and, if it didn't, how did the OT prophets know how the Messiah would be concieved and born?

For this one reason. God wanted to show how much he loved us by being just like us, only worse off. He came to be persecuted so we could be free from the distress of it. If Jesus was to really show how much he loved everyone, he had to go through the worst conditions to show everyone, in all situations, that he knows how we feel.

Its how He chose to do it.

11Let him that does unrighteously do unrighteously still; and let the filthy make himself filthy still; and let him that is righteous practice righteousness still; and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still.

12Behold, I come quickly, and my reward with me, to render to every one as his work shall be.

13*I* [am] the Alpha and the Omega, [the] first and [the] last, the beginning and the end.

14Blessed [are] they that wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and that they should go in by the gates into the city.

15Without [are] the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie.

16*I* Jesus have sent mine angel to testify these things to you in the assemblies. *I* am the root and offspring of David, the bright [and] morning star.

17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come; he that will, let him take [the] water of life freely.

Excellent question. I wish I had an answer...As a Christian I can tell you I honestly had never thought about it. If you don't mind, I'm going to ask my Pastor that on Sunday.

God has a plan. We are not to lean upon our own understanding.
We will never understand why God does the things He things or His reasons behind them. Sometimes we just have to take things on faith.
