Um... I know that anti war demonstrators have been protesting but I had not heard about churches. Please add to your question because I would be very currious to learn more about this topic.

The church most famous for protesting at funerals is protesting because since the US military allows gays to serve via the don't ask don't tell policy that it and the United States government supports gays. This makes it a good thing for them when a GI dies.
They attended a funeral in nearby Dimmit Texas. I made sure to schedule a business trip to Albuquerque NM so that I would be far away. I am a very nice guy but I was honestly afraid I would I would turn violent so better safe than sorry.

Arrowhead and others hit the nail on the head. I saw it on TV & it sickened me. They sent a group up here to Canada, the Capital- Ottawa when Parliament passed the law putting gays under the protection of "Hate Crimes" and protested on the steps of the House Of Commons with a flag and the words "F*g Flag" written on it. The police politely showed them to the border. That was bad enough but when they showed up at that solder's funeral , it was beyond my comprehension. They haunted the family of that gay kid, I think in Wyoming that was beaten and hung on a fence to die. They told the parents that their son was burning in hell etc. They were saying things like that at the military guys funeral too. I believe in free speech, but that is pushing it. I'm an athiest, but I hope there is a hell for those kind of bas*ards.

CHURCHES are you kidding me...The members of that church are all practically family...If you ask me it's more of a cult...LOL But when I hear of them doing those things it pisses me the F up. They are protesting at military funerals because they "claim" god is punishing the U.S by killing the soldiers because America supports and allows gays to live in the U.S...which is stupid because they are just way off subject! I swear I would just run them all over, or beat the crap out of them for having no respect.

There really is no right answer for that question. They are wrong, bottom line. I was in Iraq and if I ever had to go to a funeral and those people were there, it would be bad. It just shows how far our society and morals have gone. All i can really say is that those people will pay the ultimate sacifrice when they are gone.

Fred Phelps and his CULT are utterly dispicable.
Thank god for the "Patriot Guard" an organization that goes to Military funerals and creates a barrier between the funeral and phelps perverts.
If I find out there is a "Phelps " demonstration planned for a funeral in my area.... I would probably wind up in jail on assault charges against Phelps and his Cronies.

yea i heard of that, i was watching it on the news awhile back. that just disgusts me. one woman was going off on a tirade about how it's a good thing they died. these people are so stupid that they don't realize if it weren't for these soldiers, dead or alive in all generations, that they would not have the right to speak like that. i think they were like extreme baptists or something from the kansas. it was really disgusting what they do. but not to worry they have a seat for themselves in hell.

This group only calls themselves Baptists. They are not Baptists or apparently not Christians either, judging by their actions. I'm a Baptist myself and find no common ground with my beliefs and the beliefs of these clowns.

If you're referring to the Westboro Baptist Churchs, it's because they've been indocrinated into Fred Phelps's radical view of Christianity. They've essentially become automatons, following whatever Fred Phelps says and ignoring reality.

It's not "churches". There seems to be one congregation from Kansas that has made it their mission to protest. It actually has something to do with the military's policy of don't ask, don't tell. This congregation has been involved in several controversial actions.
