how far into a shower/tub combination should a shower liner be allowed to set? down the side of the tub or on the floor of the tub in order to prevent a slip and fall injury? please give referrence if available

Just down the sides of the tub, it will more unsafe if it is on the floor of the tub. Someone might even accidentally tear it off the rod and have rod and all fall in on them.

I would have it come down inside the tub at least six inches, but it doesn't have to come farther. I would have it to be at least a couple of inches higher than the floor of the tub.

It should not drag on the floor of the stall/tub. You can get your feet tangled in it & have a rally nasty fall. It should be about an inch off the bottom.
