Hello,

I have a kitty who will some times go potty on the couch (both urination and defecation) and all medical, social, emotional issues have been resolved, so I have to live with it. Question is...is a fabric couch or leather couch better for clean up? I can take the cover off of the pillows and wash it and stick the whole big pillow in the shower to rinsh it off. Will a leather couch with leather protector on it clean easily?

Thanks!!

I recommend a microfiber couch with stain-master. The stain-master coating guarantees that the urine will stay on the surface of the material, so it wipes up easily. The best part is if your couch is damaged, they deliver a new one, take away the old. I recommend the microfiber because cats are not interested in clawing the material, and it looks nice.

The leather will protect it but if you get a leather couch put plastic over it because the cat will be compelled to scratch, it is not a good idea for fabric at all because the urine and defication seep in and you can wash it yes but it also could leave traces behind that make your cat and even humans sick.

My cat went through a spell of doing this. He would do it at night or when no one was home. So, just covered the couch in aluminum foil at night and when I was gone. Once you get a few pieces the right size, it's easy to just fold it up and reuse it if kitty hasn't used it...He didn't like the foil, and stopped going there.

Maybe this will work. If not, at least it will keep the stuff off the couch...

Leather will clean up better, but either was its going to leave a smell so make sure you have a good cleaner handy

Vinyl or fabric with stainguard/master. Urine will bleach and discolor leather.

Definitely leather will clean up more easily, especially if you keep it well treated.
