On the 28th of September I am getting my tonsils removed (on my 16th b-day, it stinks) but I was wondering how long I will have to stay home from school? I want a number of days, not answers like "when you feel like it" or "dont go back" okay.

Thanks in advance!!

tonsils are not usually that bad on a younger person...but your tonsils will be sore for awhile but you will get to eat lots of ice cream and things that soothe your throat...tonsils is usually not a bad operation at all....and i think you should be able to return to school within a weeks time ...maybe even 4 days...later....my dad was born on the 28 of septemeber......i will always remember that day so i will be thinking of you now to...but do not stress it is not a bad operation...i had it done to...and you can get a board that you can write messages on for a few days..it saves your throat from hurting more...but really it will be fine...i had a hysterectomy and that will really take it out of you...like months and months...so good luck and do not worry about it at all...

Sorry, but it all depends on your body (and how much talking you will have to do). It's like having your wisdom teeth pulled, some people can barely drink fluids for several days while some can eat steak a couple of hours later. Your doctor should be able to give you an idea after the surgery.

Happy early birthday! Sorry you have to have your tonsils removed. I just asked my friend who is a nurse as well and we both agree that you should only be out of school for 3 days max, you will need to rest and what not but it isn't as bad as it used to be when you had them removed.

3 to 5 days usually. And over a weekend.
Eat lots of ice cream after the deed is done to promote healing.

Don't be suprised if you get molested while in surgery. Open mouths are tempting targets to perverts

About one week. During the whole week you will be eating icy stuff (ice cream, ice cube, etc..) to help the area from bleeding!! Have your g/f visit you in your bedroom to share "ice cream" with you!!!!

It took me...

7 days before I could eat
12 days before I could talk
3 weeks before I felt "normal"
