Without a doubt - YES! If not more than one and the younger the better.
As the brain develops, (until about age 25), the more diverse types of information it is exposed to, the better the "wiring" opportunities become.
It is similar to taking wet paint on a wall and running water down it - there will be many paths created in the paint so, when it dries, there are many different directions the water can travel. If you pour water on dried paint, it will ultimately follow the path(s) of least resistance. The human brain works in a similar way - teaching foreign languages (at any age) will be of great cognitive benefit to reasoning skills and higher brain functions.
Best of luck!

Absolutely... In fact, I really believe that Americans should not only speak American but English as well.

Learning a foreign language is an absolutel necessity in this global world, but Americans aren't able to learn to speak, read and write AMERICAN... let along any foreign language. Fortunately, other countries don't have the problem with teaching their children another language, which is why America is sucking hind teat to China, Japan and most of Europe.

I think its a great experience for students to learn about countries outside of our own. In school you are taught the very basics and you never know when your knowledge will assist you. I think it also opens the door to possibly taking more advanced foreign language courses and possibly sparking an interest in visiting the country as well.

Yes definately. I learned a foreign language (italian) and it really opened up my mind, especially to culture and different styles of grammatical structure. Plus it gives them more of a reason to visit another country.
