Your question is an interesting one to consider. The simplest and ideal answer would be yes, we all have one soul mate, but considering reality, we will all have several mislabeled “soul mates” in our lifetime in one form or the other. The only sure method of knowing, that I can think of, is when you are “old and gray,” so to speak, and find yourself being with the same person that you have been with and loved for years upon years with no sign of decay in mutual feeling.
Some may believe that we may have a predetermined companion set by an outside force, others may have a simpler belief, such as there being someone whom is perfectly compatible with you because of mundane and natural causes. Whether by faith or chance, there are enough people on this earth for everyone to technically have a “soul mate.” It is only a matter of search and time.

Neither. The idea of a "soul mate" is that there is one person you're ment to be with, and no one else, and you'll never really love any one except that one person. So if it were true, there would only be one per person. But then you have to deal with the problem of divorce, of remarried widows and widowers, etc. The whole idea is rediculous, when applied as though it's real.
However, when used as a romantic notion, (as in, telling your lover that you feel like they are your soul mate) it is very flattering.

I think every person (minus the ones who are called to priesthood and religious life) has 1 soulmate. By soulmate I mean the person who you will marry and spend the rest of your life with. From what I understand, we choose our life's path before we are born, so basically we choose our own soul mate. We can choose to wander off that path and go for someone else, but God will never FORCE us to go that way. He will help us and guide us towards that way. If we don't see that He's trying to help us go that way, and we end up going our own way, that's fine. I suggest if you wanna find your true soulmate, you should pray about it and pray for God to help you towards that person.
Also, I think we have other "soulmates" who are friends and we connect with, but for the one who we will be married to and be in love with our whole life, there is a different kind of connection there.
Also, numerologists say that if someone has at least 2 of the same life path numbers or whatever they're called as you, then they're either your soulmate or someone you can never forget.

I believe we have the potential for several soul mates given the overall population of the earth. You may only meet one, may meet multiple and some people never meet theirs.

One i think, see God made Eve for Adam, one person, for one being, but i think what has happened is that people are so caught up in 'looking' for the person that they 'think' will be right for them rather than letting God lead you to the person he 'KNOWS' is right for them, so people may find several people that they are 'looking' for but God has chosen them one, or created one for them rather because He has created you and the person he made for you so I'm guess He knows whats best
