The climate of the coastal areas [In Israel] can be very different from that of the mountainous areas, particularly during the winter months. The higher areas like the Golan Heights can get cold, wet and often snowy and even Jerusalem experiences snow spells every couple of years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel#Geography_and_Climate

The above is in response to my question; (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvyouvqeLC9twg6jx1NpDIvsy6IX?qid=20060905124015AACVHbt)

I said that Jesus walked on Ice. 90% of the people didn't even read the link (http://www.fsu.edu/news/2006/04/04/ice.walk/) and just automatically insulted and showed their lack of tolerance. A majority said it doesn't snow there. (I'm Canadian and I know MANY Americans that think I take a dog sled to school/work, that I live in an Igloo and other crap) If Americans are ignorant of their own neighbors weather – how can they know the weather across the ocean?

I'm wondering how people can so quickly judge without even READING a link I actually attached.

BTW my referance is not to ALL Americans

button21 to you it is a sin - to Alleycat it is not - and you avoided answering the question

I am Canadian too - And I actually went to Alaska 2 Months ago. Everyone I told asked why I would go to Alaska - "there is so much snow!!!" It was warm, sunny and gorgeous - no snowflake around! Misconceptions are very easy

I applaud your research too Alleycat - at least someone is backing up their questions

I can understand where you would see that. But I think it's horrible when people take a miracle, i.e. Jesus walking on water, and say it really wasn't a miracle. Because if he walked on ice, it wasn't a miracle.

So Peter fell throught the ice? It just doesn't make sense. People just try to discredit this stuff all the time. Just take it for what it is. If it says he walked on water, he did. Not ice.

It says he sweat blood, which we now know is scientifically possible. And that we've found other significant scientific facts to back up many of the miracles. Why try to discredit it? It sounds credible, when in reality, it's just an excuse to discredit the Bible and Christianity in general.

I really don't understand why people who do not accept the Bible miracles at face value find a need to try to keep the stories in tact but explain away the miraculous aspects.

Isn't the simpler explanation that the whole story is made up?

It's almost like even people who don't believe the miracles simply refuse to consider the possibility that Jesus is a mythical or legendary figure.

We don't try to explain that Santa's sleigh might have a hidden jet engine, or that maybe he uses a telescoping rod to deliver gifts down chimneys rather than magically stuffing himself down.

If you don't believe Jesus walked on water, and that's what the story says, just reject the entire story.

Okay, so yes, most Americans are stupid.

But stupidity doesn't stop at the border, unfortunately, so we can't take all the credit!

No, I don't think you live in an Igloo...there are a few of us who know a little.

FYI, in contrast, most people around the world think that all of us Californians look like Pamela Anderson, and run around in bathing suits all day.

At any rate, your point about Jesus walking on ice is intriguing. There is also some speculation that there was a tidal wave forming offshore, and that the sea was contracting away from the land, which was just a few inches under water at that point.

Hello AlleyCat_1998.. :)

As this may seem feasible..how could Jesus have lifted Peter out of the water if it had been ice..would not have the mere weight of them both, caused them to fall into the water..

This is why I have a problem with the ice theory..

In Jesus Most Precious Name..

Regardless what "THEY" say. What does the Bible say?

He walked on water. Does it say Ice?

Did Jesus turn Ice into wine?

Was Jesus baptized in Ice?

You suggesting Jesus walked on ice, could only come from Canada.

Because your a Canadian, is no excuse for scriptural ignorance. Because Canadians mode of moving is by Dogsled has little suggestion, that Jesus had donkey or camel-sleds.
.
This is not in reference to all Canadians.

Yes, it gets cold and rainy in Israel, especially in December, so how could the sheep be out in the open field when the angels appeared to the shepherds after Jesus was born?

This is where research into the climate and geography of a place comes in really handy.

Good for you on doing your research!

First of all, The Bible says water. In English and in Greek. both Greek words found in that accounting in Matthew that have been translated to water in English both mean water, like wet rain, not like frozen ice crystals.
and second, I hate to point this out to you, but it does not bode well for your intelligence factor to provide us with a dead link then accuse us of being idiots for not reading it.
Tsk tsk.

Sure, and Peter stepped out of the ice breaker, and walked on ice. Then when he got to Jesus, (Who was also on ice) he sank? If it really was icy, why would it have been written down? The bible doesn't list too many non miracles, like, Jesus feed himself with food that he bought at the market

I am in Niagara Falls (Ont) enjoying 70 F- because we watch US. weather forcasts.

Mr.Mister – the fact that you are an American is no excuse for grammatical ignorance. YOU’RE means you are, not YOUR.
Actually, YOUR entire paragraph makes no sense at all.
