All programmers, how (specifically) do you keep up with the changing needs of the user?

When programming, what different actions do you take to keep your programs user-friendly? I am writing a report about it, and I need some different input. Thanks!

This is done during the development phase of the software. You prepare a prototype of your software and have the users experiment with it. Be open for suggestions and complaints from the users. You go back to development apply the changes and ask the users again to test the software. This is an ongoing process until everyone is happy.

When you launch a new software system you normally runs it parallel to the current system in order to make the transition as smooth as possible, so this gives you another opportunity to get feedback from your users.

Well, when building a user interface.

The best method I'd use is rustle me up some people who don't know squat about computers and see if they can use the program, or change it accordingly.

For example making sure they can acces the help at any time, with no conditions.
