my mother is raising my nephew. she has a hard time with it because she is older and my nephew is a handful. she always works a full time job. the only thing i can suggest to you is love your grandchildren like they were your own. raise them as you raised your children. show them lots of love and affection. discipline them when they need to be disciplined. as far as like a curfew goes, check with his friends mothers. i think friend's mothers would probably be the best resource you could have. good luck!

I am sorry about the death of your daughter. May all the blessings of the world come to you for raising your grandchild. You have taken on quite a job. Yes, things have changed since we raised our children. We take care of our grandchildren sometimes, and our neighbors are raising their grandson.

To improve their lives, though, it is still the simple things that really count. Make sure she knows that she can come to you and tell you anything, no matter what it is. She needs to know that you will be there for her. Encourage her to do well in school. If possible get her to join some groups or teams such as swimming, scouts, etc. That will give her routine and discipline and a group of friends with similar interests.

If you have been raising her since she was a baby I expect you have learned lots of things along the way. And you know that if you have specific questions you can always post them on here and you will get lots of information.

Take care.

I would reconsider doing it at all. Except for orphans, the reason kids would be being raised by grandparents would ge that the parent(s) are unfit. Maybe that means you didn't do such a hot job of raising them.
