litlle dutch boy,Peter, was walking home one day when he noticed a hole in the dyke(sea defence) he knew it could get bigger and decided to put his finger in it to stem the flow. It goes on that he used his fist then his whole arm and was found hours later near death. But he saved the whole of Holland from being flooded because of his actions... what a nice boy!

Yes I have, it's a Dutch story about a boy who saved the Netherlands by putting his finger in a hole in the dike. The Netherlands are protected from the seawater by dikes. By putting his finger in the hole he therefore saved the Dutch population from drowning.

the little boy who stuck his finger in a hole in the dam to keep the city from getting flooded? I heard that a long long time ago. I don't remember the whole story but I do remember hearing the story.
Now I will have to look it up to refresh my memory :)

I'm from northern Minnesota. I though everyone was told that in school. At least here in the states. I don't think it was real sort of a moral lesson. Take care of things before they get too big.
