since M is the beginning letter of Mr. Mrs. Miss. etc that is why it is there so yes people write Mr. & Mrs. John Smith or just Miss. Jean Smith..
if people don't write their names it's really hard to find out who they are..

M_______ is for the title. Mr, Mrs, Miss, etc...
When responding to the invite, fill it in with the rest of the title for you. That way they know how to address you and how your
place card should read.

If it's your whole family coming and they happen to be lucky that the last name begins with "M", like "Martin family" and you could put that in.
However, if only 2 people are coming Mr. & Mrs. Kirk. or
if not married Mr. Tom Bales & Gina Martin.
