a friend of mine came over from bulgaria to work she was given a temporary visa for3 years.Her 3 years are nearly up and she is now a qualified social worker.She wants to stay in the country and also bring her son over but the place of work at the moment wont let her bring him over or gurantee to extend her visa. She cant get a social worker job unless she has a permanent visa. not sure how to advise her.

She has to apply for one, take the test, and so on. Many people get one.

1. An employer can petition for a work visa. It will probably need to be a private company.
2. If they agree, they can sponsor her for an employer based green card.

You friend needs to consult an immigration lawyer since all cases are unique.
