Training gloves are more padded and heavier. Normal gloves are not so thick (they hurt more)

john doe ~
A ten ounce glove weighs ten ounces, just like a twelve ounce glove weighs twelve ounces, 14oz, 16oz you get the idea. The padding in gloves is different depending on the "style" of the glove like, Mexican Style meaning the glove is sleeker with the padding distributed the whole length of the glove also called a "punchers glove" Everlast seems to devote much of their padding to the knuckle area. Now to get back to your question the biggest difference between "Training Gloves" and actual "Fight Gloves" is the thickness and durability of the leather that the glove is made out of. Training Gloves tend to be made out of a thicker and more durable leather than competition gloves because they were made to be worn more for actual gym use, sparring, heavy bag, wall pad whatever you hitting in the gym. Competition gloves the leather will be a lot softer and usually don't stand up to that much use.Good question John Doe.

Training gloves are lighter and help form your technique. The real gloves are there to protect your hands from getting cut on teeth.

as a boxer (and yes, i am a female) i would say that i have never seen, nor heard of training gloves. i know that there are "bag" gloves, which are much smaller and lighter compared to the fight gloes, and you only use them when you are punching the bag
