What is it that a Christian knows that you believe they don't? Is it something you think you know about, but in reality you don't? Is it possible you are wrong and they are right? I guess to fully answer this question I would need to know where you are coming from and to what you use to base this statement on. Are you sure they are wrong? Can you prove it empirically?

They do it so they can gain respect from those who look up to them for being "holy". They want to be seen as being wise and favoured by God, even though they cannot answer questions about the mystique (Bible stories) behind their beliefs.

There is great comfort and joy in being a Christian but that is not the reason we follow him. We follow God because he has revealed himself to us. He revealed himself to us because we were ready to hear his message and respond in faith.

For the Christian, there is no such thing as the word "pretend."

So they can identify with a group and they can do each other mutual favors. Ever see a non-christian parochial school? Of course not! Where would they get the subsidies to fund it?

Because either the Pope (or other prophet) tells them or they read the Bible and interpret it their way.

How Pat Robertson get's Kill the Queers and all those who like them out of "love your neighbor" and "love your enemy the most" is beyond me!

When christians say that they are talking about their faith. They are saying their faith is strong enough for them to call it knowledge. I believe what Jesus taught in the scripture. Do I know that they are true. Yes the Spirit of God has made it clear to my spirit. is that true for you...well it could be if you would allow God close enough to you to touch your heart... Jim
