by diet (I suggest calorie counting) and exercise you could lose 5 pounds the first week and 1-2 pounds every week after, but it can take a lot of disipline. You need to stick with it and not cheat.

Your height is the same as mine, large boned, broad shoulders, no boobs. My ideal weight is about 125-130lbs. Eat when ever you want just make the healthy choice - low fat yogurt instead of pudding, fruit instead of candy, frozen yogurt instead of icecream - you get the idea. Exercise helps too. Try Pilates its kind of fun.

I'm 5'6 and weighed 200 lbs at the beginning of July. I started the Cambridge Diet around the second week of July and now weigh 172. I really like this diet because you not only get fast and instant results but it's actually good for you. It provides your body with 100% of it's daily nutrition. I like it so much that I think I'm going to continue using it even after I reach my goal weight of 145. Quite honestly, I've followed the diet pretty loosely and probably would have already been at 160 at least by now if I'd done the more strict version. There are 2 main diets, the Fast Start which is consuming 3 servings of Cambridge a day and nothing else or the Maintenance program where you still eat 3 servings a day but you add in a meal at suppertime (or whatever time of day is your preference) and keep it around 500-800 calories. You're still guaranteed to lose weight but you'll lose it at a slightly faster rate. I think the average weight loss is about 5-7 lbs per week. Some lose more, some lose less, it all depends on your body but the bottom line is everyone loses the weight. They offer a wide line of products, but my personal favorite is the shakes. They come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cappacino and eggnog. I am totally addicted to the chocolate and vanilla. Strawberry is "okay" but I just don't like it as much because it has a weaker flavor than the other 2 shakes. That's just my opinion though, I know lots of people who love the strawberry and eat nothing but that flavor. I also like the cappacino but I don't like it by itself. I originally ordered the 30 day sampler plan because it came with tons of freebies like samples of the nutrition bars (OH MY WORD. They're so good!) and several other neat little items along with a recipe book. There's a recipe for a mocha cappacino flavor where you mix your cappacino cambridge with cold coffee, a capful of vanilla and 2 packets of Splenda. I absolutely LOVE that but like I said, without doctoring that one up I don't care for it. I've bought it several times now though because the mocha recipe is that good. HAHA! I've also tried the soups and I thought the potato and tomato were really good but I absolutely HATED the chicken soup. The company allowed me to return my open container of chicken soup even though I'd already used over half of it trying to come up with some sort of doctored recipe I could tolerate and they exchanged it for tomato per my request. I was really pleased that they gave me no hassel. They offer a money back guarantee on their products so that really helped me feel safe purchasing the product. I tried the oats too because you can make oatmeal with it and you can also bake and make muffins (recipes are in the recipe book) and I thought they were really good but most of the time I'd just as soon have a shake.
I originally began this diet because just like you, I needed to lose weight in a hurry but I didn't want to be unsafe about it. I found out about a diabetic family member who was having great success and decided to give it a try. I had a family reunion coming up in a month and was embarrassed by my weight. I lost 17 lbs in the first 3 weeks and then went off the diet for about 3 weeks. You can buy a 30 day sampler, a 2 week sampler or just one container at a time or a box of one flavor at once. (1 container runs around $22 for 15 servings) The sampler is the best deal if you need a month's worth because of all the freebies that come with it. I've got a class reunion in 3 weeks so I'm hoping to lose 10 more lbs before then. That should be no problem as long as I stick to this diet. It's hard because you'll still want pizza and whatever other food your crave and usually eat, but it at least tastes good enough to stick with it and feel satisfied. I was STARVING for the first 4 days but then my body adapted and the hunger suddenly left. Everyone says if you make it through the first 4 days you've got it made.
Hope this helps and good luck to you! This is the only diet I know of that produces this rapid of a weight loss in a safe way for this low a price. Medifast and all of those other diets are much like it, but they tend to cost more and they haven't been around as long. Cambridge has been in business for over 30 years and is FDA approved. OH YAH! If you decide to try it be sure to get the Food For Life line. There's 2 lines, The Original 330 and Food For Life. The Food For Life is the newer version and supposedly it tastes way better and it's the one that's based on our FDA guidelines. The Original 330 is based on Britains guidelines. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide to do!
