Some of my classmates (I just started high school) at school say "you look Jewish" in a really derogatory way to people. They usually mean that the girl has an ugly face (big mouth, not symmetrical eyes, eyes too close together). But there are many ugly Chrisitians or other religions too, so why just point out the ugly Jewish people? I mean there are ugly and beautiful people of all races. Does it have to do with a media stereotype? For example I've never heard "she looks Christian", or "you can really tell she's Buddhist!, she looks it!"

You're too worried about other people's opinion. The media has that effect on young girls especially.
I've been told I look Jewish and I tell people I do when I have to describe myself. I've had Jews tell me that I probably have Jewish blood in me. My mom was an immigrant that came over right after WWII. Her family lost everything in the war and wouldn't doubt if somewhere along the line, they denounced their faith.
Just accept it as a fact! So, you look Jewish....thank you is all you have to say.
It's like when someone tells you you have a big nose or fat cheeks, or whatever....who decides that it's bad to have a big nose? it's only a description. Accept it if it's true, and if it's meant to offend you, then the person doing the offending is usually jealous.

When people say "You look jewish", they do not mean jewish by religion. They mean ethnically they look jewish. The real jewish look is not attractive. Very small dark eyes, frizzy hair, droopy eyelids that slant down at the outer corner, short sparse eyelashes, weak, small but fat, pasty white skin. Basically a very "unathletic" and weak look. It is an insult to tell someone they look jewish.

It's all becuz of a little problem called RACISM.

I'm not Jewish in any way. There's no Jewish background in my family. But I have a slightly larger nose that I've never once been ashamed of. People seem to think that by saying I look like I'm Jewish, it insults me. It really doesn't. I think people who are comfortable in their skin will not take offense to something so mundane.

I'm not Jewish, but I'm been asked if I'm Jewish, meant in a good way. Not everyone that looks Jewish is meant in a ugly or derogatory way. Also I take it as a compliment.

Coming up to any minority and making a general comment relating to their cultural or ethnic status is viewed as inappropriate. You are in effect saying, "you are different from me", even if you mean it in a 'nice' way, there is just too much room for misunderstanding. Would you go up to someone as say, "you look black", "you look indian", or even "you look white"?

If you think Jewish women are attractive (I can relate since I am married to one), then you should say, "You are very attractive, I find women with dark hair and olive skin very pretty. Where is your family from? Jewish? Italian? Spanish?" This makes the intent of your statement clearer.

I'm Jewish, I look very Jewish (for whatever that means), and I have never been told I "look it" in a bad or offensive way.
We have loads of pretty people; check this out: http://www.amiannoyingornot.com/(gjb3sqjvcepuy3y5exwbua45)/Collection.aspx?collection=2742

Maybe the girls of your school are just terribly ignorant and brainwashed. And that is just... sad.

There are many ugly people all over the world! The ugliest are those who are prejudiced against a faith they don't understand. "You are pretty" says enough of a compliment.

Whatever ethnic origin you have you should be proud of it even if it does make you different. People make these insulting comments out of purely basic instincts, which go back to before the dark ages, and they are probably related to tribal rivalry (i.e. you are not one of us). As you and they mature most of these insults will be forgotten
