i took a photo pf a hummer my fiance and I were four wheeling with and now the rental company he workks for would like to use it for their advertising. I haven't ever sold any of my work and I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. any advice would be great.

I've sold a few pictures and the best price I got was $150. I sold all the rights to that picture for that price. If a picture makes it into a magazine to illustrate an article I write, I ask for $40 and I keep the rights to the picture.

It's pretty exciting that someone wants to buy your picture... congratulations!

I used to work for a stock photography company and we charged according to how much clients want to reproduce the image and also how large they wanted to use it for. The price started at $100 for a single use in a magazine and I saw invoices up to $2000 for use of image on flyers.
Try calling up Getty images and enquire with them.

Hmmmm....maybe try a photo company and ask them to give you an idea of what you should charge
