It's all about stamina. If you're in shape and can go the distance wear him out by ducking, fancy foot work and body shots.

Boxing is all about strengths and weaknesses

A 6'6" boxers main strength is his reach. If you both fight at distance he can pick you off at will, because your weakness there is lack of reach.

A 5'10" boxer when fighting the above has his major strength in closer and you should take every possible opportunity to get there! Now understand there is a price to pay for trying to get on the inside and that is you are going to wear a number of his jabs. So you have to keep your hands up on the way in. However once you are there make him start to pay a price
DO NOT CLINCH !!!!!!
As much as possible STOP HIM FROM WRAPPING YOU UP!!

Once inside work the body hard, then also use punches that come up to the head at a 90 to 45 degree angles
When you are working his body keep your head in under his chin and THROW PUNCHES.......get the most value for the price you paid coming in.
Now if you have to get back out DO NOT GO STRAIGHT BACK
move the opposite way to the power punch
That is if he is orthodox the move to your right ,the opposite if he is south paw
Thats basically the game plan for you. Use good foot work and angles. Get inside and hit him as often and as hard as you can
You will wear him out, and his punches then at distance will slow down.

What type of fighting, wrestling? boxing? street?
I've been in a few schoolyard fights, and I used to get the crap kicked out of me. Then my brother told me, "If you're gonna fight, your gonna get hit. So make your hits count. Stop trying to cover up and just attack. The most aggressive fighter usually wins!"
That worked pretty well. After winning a couple of tussles, the other girls didn't want to fight me. Then this ***** came after me because her boyfriend liked me. I followed my brother's advice and got my @ss handed to me. 2 cracked ribs and the whole left side of my face was black and blue. The ***** had taken Karate for almost 4 years. About the only thing I saw of her during the fight was her foot in my face! So use my brother's advice at your own risk and good luck.

you have to get inside their reach and attack the body. stomach, ribs, any part of the body you can hit. there is a part called the solar plexus that is right below the chest and right above the stomach in the center of the torso. a good shot there and i guarantee that 6'6 will soon turn to 4'6! He'll be down in a hurry! also a good liver shot will do it. The body was not meant to take punishment. kill the body and the head dies with it!

- Stay low. If you fight a taller oponent in the ring, it takes away the advantage of his reach. He'll have to punch awkwardly in a downward striking motion. WATCH FOR UPPERCUTS.

- Try to stay close to him. You'll do alot of damage if you stay close to him, watch for uppercuts, those are going to be his punches of choice as he will try to send you back and will most likely be his best shot if you do stay low and in.

- Work his core. Body shots to the solar plexus, kidneys, stomach and chest will definitely slow him down.

- Speed. Use your size to your advantage, move alot. When moving back out, go toward his blind side and try to throw a few more. TRy not to let him hug you.

-Pace yourself.

That's what I would do if I were gonna go into a ring for a boxing match. But if its a good ol street fight, Step or kick into his knee cap, this should bring him down for sure. That's all you gotta do.

get inside their reach. If you are a striker then ribs. Elbows to the jaw are always nice. If it looks like punching isnt gonna get the job done, then u might want to take him to the ground, or put him in a submission hold. Of course, all this does require you to know what you are doing. If you dont, then you should avoid this fight, if at all possible.Keep your head up if its a boxing match. Elbows are quick and effective.

"Illl tell you a secret, if you get him on the ground, and you straddle him above his waist, the fight is over."

Most of the force of a punch is lost when it is connected with while the arm is too bent. Your best bet, if you can get near him, is to get in close and use uppercuts. The other option is to dodge his heavy punches, e.g. parry, duck and move, and catch him while he is following through. Neither of these is a sure bet way to win, because if he is a good fighter, he will know how to protect his weaknesses. But, if you can manage to get in close, your uppercuts will be almost as strong as they can be, and he will find it difficult to land a powerful punch. Don't forget to protect your body especially, since that will be his greatest area of attack while you are that close.

Get on the inside, work the body. Taller guys, in general, can not generate real power on the inside. Staying on the outside will allow him to dictate the fight because his arms are longer. Get inside, he won't generate the leverage he needs. Also, alot of shorter fighers like to stick their heads into the chest of the taller opponent. This way you can consentrate on the body better, he has less of your head to hit. He can only upper cut and round house in that position. With your arms working the body, blocking will be easy. He will have problems going to your body, problems hitting your head. WORK WORK WORK the body. A taller man has a longer torso, that means an easier target to hit. Anybody who knows anything knows that if you hurt the body's core, the rest goes with it. He will slow down, he will lose strength, develop breathing problems. Then his arms will drop to block the body. When ever he does that, ROCK his head a few times then right back to the body. As the fight goes on head shot oppertunities will grow and grow. Be patient, be ready to fight all night, don't get recless, if you open up wrong he could catch you are blow your advantage. Also, with the head in the chest, you can "accidentally" head butt a few times. Try to piss your opponent off. People make mistakes when they are mad. I could go on, but to generally answer your question, I think I covered the basics. PS I am 6'0", slightly taller than you. I like to fight bigger guys because they are complasent. They get used to winning easy and people fearing them. I am not afraid of them. If you come in and start rocking him, he'll know you really came to fight... but by then he may find it is too late. Good luck with your fight. Remember, he can't beat you, only YOU can beat you. Get your head right and kill him. Bye bye.

PS, you do mean boxing right, you are in the boxing section. If you mean a non sporting fight, remember the neck, joints, nobody can fight without air or arms/legs. Bite also, no girly bites, eating a steak bites. Take a chunk out of someone and they don't want to fight anymore. Don't try to hurt them, I seriously mean this, try to cripple them, kill them. Change their body forever. When they want to quit, keep going. He wants a fight? Give him one he'll NEVER forget. I am mostly fair in an organised fight (I do cheat on "accident") but in a fight I am a dirty hate mongering foul fighter. I would like to add this also. After you are done, break his ribs by kicking as hard as possible, and spit in his face. F&CK A FAIR FIGHT!!! If it's a boxing match, go from my first paragraph, a real fight, follow the second paragraph.

Hmmm - I thought this was a boxing question forum - not MMA. Too many shorter athletes try to "head hunt" and forget to work the body on taller opponents. Enough body shots will definitely weaken the opponent and, in many cases, cause him or her to drop their hands - giving you the opportunity to punch the face. Yes, body shots count and are an extremely valuable tool in a boxer's arsenal.

Get inside their jab, watch the uppercuts and work on his ribs/solar plexus. Also, it never hurts to learn a few submission holds, most fights end up on the ground anyway. Bets place for that is watch a few UFC fights and practice with a friend.

Mike tyson style, hes about 5'10 and most of his opponents he fought especially in the early days were arouned the 6'2 to 6'5 mark. He seemed to fight better against taller opponests and usually took them out early on.
