Are you sure 'dirty weekend' is the phrase you are looking for? That would mean you have a partner and you're just going to have sex all weekend. If that is what you mean then don't go to either of those places, stay at a nice hotel in the country or a really posh one in London or something.

If you meant something else then go with what the people above said - Blackpool if you're straight, Brighton if you're queer.

You need a sense of humour for Blackpool, it is cheaper and has great trams, Blackpool Tower with its amazing ballroom, a sandy beach and piers.
Some people find Brighton a bit pretentious and expensive, it has stones not sand but the piers, shops and many of the restaurants are lovely
For both places check out the hotel rooms for hygiene as much as you can I have had nightmare experiences in both places

Lancashire has higher rainfall records than Sussex. It's probably cleaner in Blackpool generally. So for dirty: Brighton, any day of the week.

Neither, go to newcastle upon tyne, great hotels, very posh, good sites from your hotel room. You can see all of the river side no need to venture out of your room! Two beaches nearby, landmarks, bridges, football, best night out ever with the friendliest people!!
