I know, I know.
You are a brain-less idiot from KKK from Mississipi that watchs ugly American football every monday. You think that "hispanic" is a race and that all Mexicans are brown. Take a look in these white mexicans. If their names were "John Smith" or "Nicole Bush" you would say they are "good whites" that "washes their hands". (I saw a guy in yahoo! answers that asked why Mexicans don't wash their hand after going to bathroom)
Search for them in Google Images:
Gael García Bernal, actor
Helena Rojo, actress
Patricia Mercado, politician
Santiago Creel, politician
Ernesto Zedillo, former president
Margarita Zavala, wife of the next president
Gerardo Torrado, football (soccer) player
Also search for:
Rebeldes RBD (without " ")
It's a "teens band"
Now do you still believe in the existence of the hispanic race?

DAR: don't exagerate, most?, 10% of Mexicans are white.

Anyway, I just make this question because there are still many people that strongly believe that hispanic is a race.

I've been to Mexico several times on business trips, and the people there were all different colors. I seen blondes with blue eyes, people with black hair, dark skin and blue eyes. It's just like here, they can be all colors (of different degrees) and have many different eye colors. It depends on the region of Mexico they're from.

The name Hispanic comes from Hispaniola, Hispaniola is the name the Spaniards gave their colonies. Hispaniola comes from Hispalis that is the name the Romans gave their province in Iberia. Hispalis came from the greek Hisp that was the name the locals had for rabbits that existed in Iberia in such numbers that were a plague before the Romans.

Hence anybody that was born in a nation that was once dominated or part of the Spanish or Portuguese Empires is Hispanic. By definition the western United States is Hispanic.

Hispanics are not part of a 'race' or a united monolithic group of people. To say Hispanic is no different than to say American anybody from Nome to Patagonia is an American, or European anybody from Gibraltar to Eastern Russia is European.

Where does all this hate come from in the answers to your question? These people I suppose believe themselves to be good Christian Americans. They would also want to crucify Jesus today if he came back. As far as a "race", Hispanic is just an artifical name put on people who come from the world south of the United States. It is not a race.

Hey, this is OUR line! We keep saying 'wait a minute, I thought Mexicans were mostly white?" And you guys keep saying 'no it's race that makes you not want us, forget the billions of dollars of education funds we and our children take from your children!'

Not to mention that a number of illegals aren't even Hispanic but are Irish, Polish, Russian, African or whatever.

The race issue is entirely in your mind. We are against illegal immigrants. Full stop.

I don't care one bit about ethnicity, my concern is that the border has gone so long without being enforced that it may as well not exist. And, going by what we're seeing from Congress, we won't see any changes anytime soon. No one loves a critic, but these are supposed to be our lawmakers, the people that are charged with overseeing things in general in our country, and they're just sitting there watching and not doing anything.

People can go on and on about race, but that's not what the issue is about. Mexico needs reform, and we don't need any slave labor, paid or otherwise. I neither require nor desire a mexican maid/housekeeper/nanny/concubine/yard worker etc.
I believe that american citizens, regardless of ethnicity, are fully capable of harvesting the nations' crops, of doing the dirty work 'that americans won't do', and generally by our very character negating any/all of the rhetoric that's been carefully
aimed at our country and our citizens either by some foreign country, or even our own politicians. Mexico/Mexicans need to fix their own country, and frankly, it's not even that difficult, a high-school dropout could build a school, you can like, buy the blueprints or a construction book for 20 bucks. Basic needs, basic answers, leave race out of it because it just confuses the issue. This is about people taking some initiative and making positive changes on their own behalf. Andele!

All humans of any color or race should wash their hands after cutting a grocery snake. It is the civilized thing to do.

Is JayLo American? of course...she is successful. How about Mariah Carey or any number of Latino Americans...? Quit beating yourselves up Yankees. Sometimes, you are your own worst enemies.
