Is a dinner and a movie for your first date with a guy still an oldie but a goody? Or would you prefer a more Au vanguard approach? Were you break from the norm and try something that allows you to spend more time talking to each other. Example I thought dinner should stay but instead of a movie how about... Poetry or a friendly game of pool. Maybe even a walk through Manhattan at night? You know the kind of night were there is just a slight chill in the air and I've got to put my arms around you for warmth.

For the first date you want to pick activities where you can be together and have the oppurtunity to talk... go to dinner, golfing, on a walk, maybe to a festival or something thats going on in the community. Find out her hobbies and likes and take her to a function where you can find out more about her!

Yes dinner and drinks is an oldies but definitely a goodie. I prefer to see a movie on the second or third date (or later). For a first date, I want dinner and a walk, or go to a art show/museum. Maybe even dancing or playing pool after dinner. On first dates, I want to talk and get to know my date, and with movies you can't communicate, and can't talk with each other. So any of your suggestions I think will be a hit with a girl on a first date, especially to get to know her better.
Good luck.

a dinner and a movie work ok for the first date but if you think of more creative activities it means more going for a walk could be cool but i think best if you simply walked to the destination nearby to a poetry jam or a comedy club would be great to have some laughs and be closer-plus its something to talk about for your next date shes going to think you're fun and relaxed dude but most importantly-considerate

I think going to a place where you get the opportunity to talk is better than a movie, like a gallery. Pool is an awesome date.

Dinner, yes.
playing pool, really godd idea.
walking at night, perfect if you really feel a connection by then and if she is fine with it.
Just no poetry unless it's a romantic poem, or if poetry is something that she really likes.

i would skip dinner too
just do something cool and original, like go to a comedy and laugh your asses out and than talk some more over a huge iceream and coffe, or get drunk or go to a festival or a party (in a pub or something) or a concert
live a little
go crazy!
u need to impress her, of corse, but u don't need to lie or pretend u are something else
