Recently I have started working in clothing store. Since I get a good discount on clothing I started dressing more nicely. Yesterday during work, one of the coworkers asked me if I was GAY. This wasn't a joke, the women was completely serious. And this is not the first time this has happened, other times recently I have been asked about my sexual orientation. What gives?
I am a black male, my hair is black, 6 feet. I like to work out and play sports. I work on appearance, not a lot but more then average.

I think it just means you like paying alot of attention to your appearance and that others should mind their own business and not pass judgement on you... you could have always responded to the ditzy coworker, but saying.. "No, I'm not gay... I was actually trying to impress you into asking me out as I have fallen so deeply for you and want to marry you" lmao!!! Just learn how to respond to dingy remarks by people that puts them in their place and lets them know by no uncertain terms that what you do, how you look, and how you behave, is of no concern to them!

One of the men in our office is straight but everyone thinks he's gay because he dresses well and is soft spoken. I think it's society today where men are not held to any kind of standard that causes this problem. They dress like slobs and act like barbarians and this is what our culture considers manly. Far be it from me to consider a well spoken, well dressed individual straight. I think that you just confuse them, they are so used to idiots that when a culture man comes along they get confused.

well what can I say???? my brother is gay and he looks better than I do, he takes care of himself more than me when we go out, if you are not gay why do you feel offended? you are a "metrosexual" for sure, that is when heterosexual guys like to dress and appear nice, handsome and clean, like homosexuals but they are not. So make up your mind, there is nothing wrong w/ being metro or homosexual. And don't worry about what others say, if you feel comfortable, don't pay attention

Some people will think you're gay just b/c you know how to dress...
You don't have to wear a wife-beater and a dirty cap (I'm thinking K-Fed here) to prove people you're straight.
Just keep on taking care of yourself and just be who you want to be, it's all good like that.

Honestly hunny, maybe the women are pissed becuase you are not looking at them, so it feels better when they think in thier minds that you are gay. Whatever you do, dont change who you are and what feels comfortable for anyone. No Matter What!!

Take off the earrings, button up the top, and watch out how your hands move around. Also, it might be your voice and how you naturally react to information you receive.

If you think she was serious, then u had better change your clothing style or your attitude. Some how you are giving off vibes that you are queer.
